Andrew Ruhan
Andrew Joseph Ruhan (born September 1962) is a British businessman and motor racing driver. Andrew Ruhan became successful during his 22 years of experience as business leader in the Data Centre industry globally (with total of 30 years of property development experience), Andy has extensively worked globally in the US, Europe, Middle East and Asia. His accomplishments have been recognised worldwide which includes being hailed as Ernst & Young, Entrepreneur of the Year 2001 awardee. He has been involved in a legal dispute with his former business partners over the profits from the sale of 37 Thistle Hotels in the 2000s Career Ruhan joined the board of the Lotus F1 in 2013, and took control of the team the following season. His involvement in the team ended when Renault re-purchased the team in December 2015. Thistle Hotels, run by glh., is a UK-based hotel company with a portfolio of 7 Central London hotels, one at London Heathrow and one in Dorset, operating in the three and four star sector. Lotus F1 Team was a British Formula One racing team. The team competed under the Lotus name from until , following the renaming of the former Renault team based at Enstone in Oxfordshire. The Lotus F1 Team was majority owned by Genii Capital. Lotus F1 was named after its branding partner Group Lotus. The team achieved a race victory and fourth position in the Formula One Constructors' World Championship in their first season under the Lotus title. The team was sold back to Renault on 18 December 2015. Gerald Martin Smith (born 21 May 1955) is a British businessman and convicted fraudster. Early life Smith was born on 21 May 1955. He qualified as a physician. Business career In 1993, while chief executive of the Farr construction group, he was prosecuted for stealing £2 million from its pension fund and sentenced to two years' imprisonment. In 2002, Smith acquired 30% of Izodia plc through his investment company, Orb. He placed his own directors on the board and moved the main company bank account to Jersey where he stole money from it. In December 2002, the Serious Fraud Office (SFO) raided his home in Jersey and his company offices. By February 2005, criminal charges were being considered. On the day that Smith was to report with his lawyers to the SFO's offices, he was involved in a car crash and had to be cut from his Audi A8 after having run into a tree.
