Andrew Richard Betts (born 11 May 1977) is a retired British professional basketball player. He had a mostly international career. Career notes After starting his career as a junior player with the Leicester Riders, Betts played college basketball at C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University from 1994 to 1997 and later at Long Beach State University from 1997 to 1998. He was selected in the 1998 NBA Draft by the Charlotte Hornets in the second round, with the 50th overall draft pick after averaging 18.7 points and 10.1 rebounds as a senior at Long Beach State. He then moved to the Italian league for the 1998–99 season, signed by Fortitudo Bologna. The center (C), or the centre, also known as the five or the pivot, is one of the five Basketball position, positions in a regulation basketball game. The center is normally the tallest player on the team, and often has a great deal of strength and body mass as well. In the NBA, the center is typically close to tall. They traditionally play close to the basket in the low post. Centers are valued for their ability to protect their own goal from high-percentage close attempts on defense, while scoring and rebounding with high efficiency on offense. Leicester Riders
Leicester Riders are a British professional basketball team and the oldest club in the British Basketball League (BBL). Established in 1967, the club have played in various locations around Leicestershire before moving to their current purpose-built home venue, the Morningside Arena, in 2016. History The Loughborough All-Stars, as the Leicester Riders were originally known, were founded by students and lecturers at Loughborough University on 26 April 1967. Centennial is a home rule municipality located in Arapahoe County, Colorado, United States. The city population was 108,418 at the 2020 United States Census, making Centennial the 11th most populous municipality in Colorado. The Lega Basket Serie A (LBA) is a professional men's club basketball league that has been organised in Italy since 1920. 1998 NBA Draft
The 1998 NBA draft took place on June 24, 1998, at General Motors Place in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. This draft helped turn around four struggling franchises: the Dallas Mavericks, the Sacramento Kings, the Boston Celtics, and the Toronto Raptors. The Vancouver Grizzlies and the Toronto Raptors were not able to win the NBA draft lottery; as they were expansion teams, they were not allowed to select first in this draft.
