Andrew Painter (baseball)
Andrew Patrick Painter (born April 10, 2003) is an American professional baseball pitcher in the Philadelphia Phillies organization. Amateur career Painter attended Calvary Christian Academy in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He committed to the University of Florida during his freshman year in 2018. The summer after his freshman year, he played for the USA Baseball 15U National Team in Panama where he earned a Gold Medal and was named to the All-World team. As a sophomore in 2019, he went 7-2 with a 1.43 ERA over innings, leading Calvary Christian to the 4A state championship game. That summer, he was named to the Under Armour All-America Baseball Game at Wrigley Field, being one of two juniors selected. In 2020, his junior year, he gave up one run and struck out 33 batters over 15 innings before the season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Pitcher
In baseball, the pitcher is the player who throws ("pitches") the baseball from the pitcher's mound toward the catcher to begin each play, with the goal of retiring a batter, who attempts to either make contact with the pitched ball or draw a walk. In the numbering system used to record defensive plays, the pitcher is assigned the number 1. The pitcher is often considered the most important player on the defensive side of the game, and as such is situated at the right end of the defensive spectrum. Wrigley Field
Wrigley Field is a Major League Baseball (MLB) stadium on the North Side of Chicago, Illinois. It is the home of the Chicago Cubs, one of the city's two MLB franchises. It first opened in 1914 as Weeghman Park for Charles Weeghman's Chicago Whales of the Federal League, which folded after the 1915 baseball season. Eastern League (1938–present)
The Eastern League (EL) is a Minor League Baseball (MiLB) sports league that has operated under that name since 1938, with the exception of the 2021 season, during which the league operated under the moniker Double-A Northeast. The league has played at the Double-A level since 1963, and consists primarily of teams located in the Northeastern United States. Reading Fightin Phils
The Reading Fightin Phils (also called the Reading Fightins) are a Minor League Baseball team based in Reading, Pennsylvania, playing in the Northeast Division of the Eastern League. The team plays their home games at FirstEnergy Stadium. The Reading Fightin Phils were founded in 1967 as the Reading Phillies (commonly referred to as the R-Phils and sometimes Reading Phils) and they have been the Double-A affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies since 1967. The Jersey Shore BlueClaws (formerly Lakewood BlueClaws) are a Minor League Baseball team of the South Atlantic League and the High-A affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies. The Florida State League (FSL) is a Minor League Baseball league based in the state of Florida. The Clearwater Threshers are a Minor League Baseball team of the Florida State League and the Single-A affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies. The Florida Complex League Phillies are a Rookie-level affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies, competing in the Florida Complex League of Minor League Baseball. Prior to 2021, the team was known as the Gulf Coast League Phillies. The team plays its home games at the Carpenter Complex, in Clearwater, Florida.
