Andrew P. Sage
Andrew Patrick Sage (August 27, 1933 – October 31, 2014) was an American systems engineer and Emeritus Professor and Founding Dean Emeritus at the School of Information Technology and Engineering of the George Mason University.Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. Systems engineering is an interdisciplinary field of engineering and engineering management that focuses on how to design, integrate, and manage complex systems over their life cycles. At its core, systems engineering utilizes systems thinking principles to organize this body of knowledge. The individual outcome of such efforts, an engineered system, can be defined as a combination of components that work in synergy to collectively perform a useful function. IEEE Simon Ramo Medal
The IEEE Simon Ramo Medal is an award for exceptional achievement in systems engineering and systems science, and was established by the IEEE Board of Directors in 1982. The medal is named for Simon Ramo, one of the founders of the TRW corporation. The award itself consists of a gold medal, bronze replica, certificate and honorarium. It may be presented to individuals, or groups of up to three people. The award is sponsored by the Northrop Grumman Corporation.
