Andrew Oliver (New York Politician)
Andrew Oliver (January 16, 1815 – March 6, 1889) was an American politician, attorney, and jurist who served two terms as a United States House of Representatives, U.S. Representative from New York from 1853 to 1857. Early life and education Born in Springfield, New York, in 1835 Oliver graduated from Union College in Schenectady, New York. Career He studied law, was Admission to the bar in the United States, admitted to the bar and commenced practice in Penn Yan, New York in 1838. He served as judge of the New York Court of Common Pleas, Court of Common Pleas from 1843 to 1847. In 1846 he was judge of the Yates County, New York, Yates County New York Surrogate's Court, surrogate and county courts. Springfield is a town in Otsego County, New York, United States. The population was 1,358 at the 2010 census. The Town of Springfield is located at the northern county line of Otsego County and is approximately west of Schenectady. History Several families settled near Otsego Lake ''circa'' 1762, but little further development occurred until after the American Revolution. Union College is a private liberal arts college in Schenectady, New York.
