Special effects (often abbreviated as SFX, F/X or simply FX) are illusions or visual tricks used in the theatre, film, television, video game, amusement park and simulator industries to simulate the imagined events in a story or virtual world. The AACTA Award for Best Visual Effects or Animation (previously Best Visual Effects) is an award presented by the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts (AACTA) for achievements in visual effects in film, television, documentary and short film.
