Andrew Fleming Green, Baron Green of Deddington, KCMG (born 6 August 1941) is a former British diplomat. He is the founding president of MigrationWatch UK, an organisation arguing for lower immigration to the United Kingdom. He has also held a number of positions with voluntary organisations. Background and education Lord Green was educated at Haileybury before going up to Magdalene College, Cambridge, where he read Natural Sciences and Economics. He then took a three-year Short Service Commission in the Royal Green Jackets. Career Diplomatic career On joining the Diplomatic Service in 1965, he studied Arabic in Lebanon. Thereafter, he spent half his career in the Middle East where he served in six posts. The remainder of his service was divided between London, Paris, and Washington DC. Andrew Green (born 14 June 1965) is a British Formula One engineer. He is currently the chief technical officer at the Aston Martin Formula One team. Biography Green began his career in motorsport when he was involved in the newly formed Jordan Grand Prix team in 1990. Spending many years as a Race Engineer with Jordan in the mid-1990s, he joined British American Racing in 1998 where he was Head of Mechanical Design, later joining Red Bull Technology as the Head of R&D in 2004. Andrew Green (28 July 1927 – 21 May 2004) was a British author and ghost hunter known by the media as "the Spectre Inspector". Although Green never claimed to have definitively seen a ghost, he hunted them for 60 years and helped to popularise the use of scientific methods in ghost hunting. He once famously hunted for ghosts in the Royal Albert Hall. Early life and education Green was born in Ealing; his father was senior Air Raid Warden to the area. Green's interest in the paranormal was sparked when his father took him to an empty Victorian house in 1944. He later said that while visiting the house he was overcome by an unearthly voice who told him to jump out of the window. On investigation Green discovered that the house had been the site of twenty suicides over the previous sixty years. Andrew M. Green was the librarian at the National Library of Wales in Aberystwyth from 1998 to 2013. His predecessor was J. Lionel Madden. The role has been influential in Wales, since John Ballinger first took up the position in 1909. Green's career had been in British university libraries including the University College of Wales, Aberystwyth (1973–74), University College Cardiff (1975–89), University of Sheffield (1989–92) and was the Director of Library and Information Services at the University of Wales, Swansea (1992–98). Though not a native Welsh speaker (having been born and raised in England) Green is fluent in the language. Dunwich was a parliamentary borough in Suffolk, one of the most notorious of all the rotten boroughs. It elected two Members of Parliament (MPs) to the House of Commons from 1298 until 1832, when the constituency was abolished by the Great Reform Act. History In medieval times, when Dunwich was first accorded representation in Parliament, it was a flourishing port and market town about from Ipswich. However, by 1670 the sea had encroached upon the town, destroying the port and swallowing up all but a few houses so that nothing was left but a tiny village. The borough had once consisted of eight parishes, but all that was left was part of the parish of All Saints, Dunwich - which by 1831 had a population of 232, and only 44 houses ("and half a church", as Oldfield recorded in 1816). Andrew Haswell Green (October 6, 1820 – November 13, 1903) was a lawyer, New York City planner, and civic leader. He is considered "the Father of Greater New York," and is responsible for Central Park, the New York Public Library, the Bronx Zoo, the American Museum of Natural History, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. He also participated in or led significant projects, such as Riverside Drive, Morningside Park, Fort Washington Park, and protecting the Hudson River Palisades from destruction. His last project was the consolidation of the "Imperial City" or City of Greater New York; he chaired the 1897 committee that drew up the plan of amalgamation.
