Andrew Burke (poet)
Andrew Burke (born 1944 in Melbourne, Victoria) is a contemporary Australian poet. Early in his working life, Burke pursued a career in advertising as a copywriter and creative director. In the 1970s he had received prizes - the Thomas Wardle poetry prize of 1973, and 1977 the Tom Collins poetry prize. He switched to academia as a literature and creative writing lecturer in middle age. He received a MA in writing from Edith Cowan University in 2002, and a PhD in writing in 2006. He has lectured in Australia and China, and read his poetry to audiences of all ages in the United Kingdom, Singapore, China, and throughout Australia. His poetry has been included in Western Australian and Australian anthologies. Collections of his poems exist online and his blog includes poetry. Subiaco Post
Post Newspapers comprises the four editions of a community newspaper covering a group of western suburbs in Perth, Western Australia. History The Post Newspapers group was established as the ''Subiaco Post'' by reporter Bret Christian and his wife Bettye in September 1977 at a house in Churchill Avenue, Subiaco. The first edition was published in September 1977. The paper moved to a former wine saloon in Keightley Road, Subiaco, in 1979, and moved again to Onslow Road in Shenton Park in 2006. The ''Post'' started as a monthly, became fortnightly in 1978 and went to weekly publication from 26 November 1980. Veronica Brady
Veronica Brady IBVM (born Patricia Mary Brady; 5 January 1929 – 20 August 2015) was an Australian religious sister who was a noted writer and academic. She was one of the first Australian religious sisters to broadcast on radio and to teach at a secular university. She was a member of the inaugural board of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation in the 1980s. Brady was an authority on Nobel Prize-winning Australian author Patrick White and wrote ''South of My Days'', a biography of Australian poet Judith Wright. Early life and education Patricia Mary Brady was born in Melbourne in 1929 (she took the name of "Veronica" upon joining her religious order). She matriculated from Loreto Mandeville at the age of 15 before attending Melbourne University. She went on to complete one of the first PhD degrees on Australian literature, graduating from the University of Toronto in 1969 after completing a thesis on the writing of Patrick White (as "Patricia Mary Brady").
