Andres Spokoiny
Andrés Spokoiny (born 1968) is an Argentine Jewish activist, now living in New York City and is the President and CEO of the Jewish Funders Network. Personal life Spokoiny was born at Buenos Aires in 1968. Both his paternal and maternal grandparents emigrated from Poland in the 1930s. He and his younger brother were raised by their divorced mother, who still lives in Buenos Aires. His childhood coincided with tough economic times, and the local Jewish community center was a refuge for his family. He grew up in a strong Jewish home and, with assistance from the local community, attended Jewish schools. "I knew the names of the streets of Haifa before I knew those of Buenos Aires." At his bar mitzvah, he discovered that being Jewish involved a religion, as well as a culture, and entered a Conservative seminary of Masorti movement. Limmud
Limmud is a British-Jewish educational charity which, in the UK, produces a large annual winter festival and several other regional events throughout the year on the theme of Jewish learning. Limmud is not affiliated to any strand of Judaism, stating "We have no part to play in the debates between/across denominations" in its mission statement. Limmud markets itself as open to "anyone interested in Jewish learning". The Limmud event in the UK has inspired a worldwide movement of Limmud groups, so the name 'Limmud' now refers both to the UK charity and the worldwide network (Limmud itself only operates in the UK). The Genesis Prize ( he, פרס בראשית) is a $1 million annual prize awarded to Jewish people who have achieved significant professional success, in recognition of their accomplishments, contributions to humanity, and commitment to Jewish values. The prize was founded in 2012 with a $100 million endowment from five Russian philanthropists: Mikhail Fridman, Pyotr Aven, German Khan, Stan Polovets, and Alexander Knaster. The prize was established under the administration of the Genesis Prize Foundation, in partnership with the Israeli Prime Minister's Office and the Jewish Agency for Israel.
