Andreas Schütz
Andreas Schütz (born 19 February 1968) is a Thoroughbred racehorse trainer. From a prominent racing family, he is the fourth generation to train professionally. Andreas Schütz started out as an amateur jockey, winning four German championships from 1984–1987 and the European championship in 1987. In 1992 he began working as an assistant trainer for his father Bruno Schütz who had built one of the Germany's most successful public training stables. Due to health problems, his father retired and in 1998 Andreas took over the running of the stable. Highly successful, Andreas Schütz has won numerous German Group one races including the five wins in both the Deutsches Derby and the Preis der Diana. Four times he has been his country's annual leading trainer in wins. He was won several Group One races in Italy and in 2004 won the Singapore Airlines International Cup at Kranji Racecourse in Singapore. Gran Premio Del Jockey Club
The Gran Premio del Jockey Club is a Group 2 flat horse race in Italy open to thoroughbreds aged three years or older. It is run at Milan over a distance of 2,400 metres (about 1½ miles), and it is scheduled to take place each year in October. The event is named after the Jockey Club Italiano, a racing organisation based in Milan. It was established in 1921, and was initially contested over 1,800 metres. The race was run over 2,000 metres in 1926 and 1927. It was extended to its current distance of 2,400 metres in 1928. Prior to 2017 it was contested at Group 1 level. Borgia (horse)
Borgia (4 April 1994 – 29 March 2012) was a German-bred Thoroughbred racemare that was trained in Germany and France. She won the Deutsches Derby, Grosser Preis von Baden, and Hong Kong Vase. Background Borgia was by Acatenango and her dam, Britannia, was by Tarim (GB), making her a half-sister to Boreal, who also won the Deutsches (German) Derby. Bred in Germany, Borgia was sent to France and trained by André Fabre in 1998. In March 2012, she was put down because of a serious horse colic. Racing record Borgia was one of the few fillies to win the Deutsches Derby. In 1997, she also won the Grosser Preis von Baden. She finished third in the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe and second to Chief Bearheart in the Breeders' Cup Turf, a Group One (G1) weight for age race held in North America. Good Ba Ba () (foaled 2002) is a Hong Kong based Thoroughbred racehorse. In the season of 2007-2008, Good Ba Ba had five consecutive wins in Hong Kong G1 and G2 races. Shirocco (foaled 10 April 2001) is a German Thoroughbred racehorse. He was trained in his native Germany by Andreas Schütz up to the end of his three-year-old season before moving to French trainer André Fabre to race as a four and five year old. Background Shirocco was sired by Monsun, a German racehorse and leading sire. His dam was The Minstrel mare So Sedulous who won two races when trained in England by Geoff Wragg. She was also the dam of Subiaco (winner of the Group 2 Gerling-Preis) and stakes winners Satchmo, Storm Trooper and September Storm. The Stewards' Cup is a Hong Kong Thoroughbred horse race held annually during the latter part of January at Sha Tin Racecourse. A Group One race that offers a purse of HK$12,000,000, it is run on turf over a distance of 1600 meters and is open to horses three years of age and older. The first leg of the Hong Kong Triple Crown, it is followed by the Hong Kong Gold Cup in February. and the Hong Kong Champions & Chater Cup in late May/early June. Champions Mile
The Champions Mile is a Group 1 flat horse race in Hong Kong for three-year-old and above thoroughbreds run over a distance of 1,600 metres (approximately 1 mile) on the turf at Sha Tin Racecourse with the total purse of HK$14m in 2014/15, approximately US$1.8m. It was first run in 2001, and was opened to international competition in 2005 and granted an international grade 1 status in 2007. The race is now the third leg of the four race Asian Mile Challenge, preceded by the Dubai Duty Free Stakes and followed by the Yasuda Kinen.
