Andreas Dresen
Andreas Dresen (born 16 August 1963) is a German film director. His directing credits include '' Cloud 9'', '' Summer in Berlin'', ''Grill Point'' and ''Night Shapes''. His film '' Stopped on Track'' premiered at the Un Certain Regard section at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival, where it won the Prize of Un Certain Regard. Dresen is known for his realistic style, which gives his films a semi-documentary feel. He works very teamoriented and heavily uses improvisation. In 2013 he was a member of the jury at the 63rd Berlin International Film Festival. Early life and education Dresen was born in Gera. From 1984-85 Dresen worked as a sound engineer for the Schwerin Theatre. From 1984-1986 he was a trainee at East Germany's DEFA Studio for Feature Films as an assistant director to Günter Reisch. 72nd Berlin International Film Festival
The 72nd annual Berlin International Film Festival, usually called the Berlinale took place from 10 to 20 February 2022 in person. On 15 December 2021 the first film of the festival was announced. The festival opened with François Ozon's drama film ''Peter von Kant''. Isabelle Huppert was awarded Honorary Golden Bear for lifetime achievement on 15 February 2022 at the Berlinale Palast award ceremony. Her film by Laurent Larivière, ''À propos de Joan'' was also screened. The awards were presented on 16 February 2022 truncating the festival by 4 days. ''Alcarràs'' by Carla Simón won the Golden Bear award and '' The Novelist's Film'' by Hong Sang-soo won the Silver Bear Grand Jury Prize. The festival formally closed on 20 February 2022. FILMFEST HAMBURG is an international film festival in Hamburg, the third-largest of its kind in Germany (after Berlin and Munich). It shows national and international feature and documentary films in eleven sections. ''Henryk from the Back Row'' (german: Herr Wichmann aus der dritten Reihe) is a German documentary film directed by Andreas Dresen. The film was released in 2012 and follows the CDU politician Henryk Wichmann as a member of the Landtag of Brandenburg. Production Wichmann was previously the subject of Dresen's documentary ''Herr Wichmann von der CDU''. After Wichmann was elected to the Landtag of Brandenburg in 2009, Dresen had the idea to direct a sequel. Dresen followed Wichmann for one parliamentary year and produced around 100 hours of uncut material, which he edited down to 1.5 hours of uncommented film. ''Gundermann'' is a 2018 biographical musical film based on the life of East German singer-songwriter Gerhard Gundermann. Directed by Andreas Dresen and written by Leila Stiehler, the film premiered on 23 August 2018 and won six awards at the subsequent German Film Awards 2019, including Best Film, Best Director and Best Actor. Plot Beginning in 1992 with the unmasking of Gunderman as a former unofficial collaborator of the East German security service Stasi, the film shows selected episodes from the life of singer-songwriter and excavator operator Gerhard Gundermann. Cutbacks show how he involved himself in the politics of the GDR and met his wife Conny. Making him responsible for his shortcoming, Gundermann's father breaks ties with him. James Krüss
James Krüss (31 May 1926 – 2 August 1997) was a German writer of children's and picture books, illustrator, poet, dramatist, scriptwriter, translator, and collector of children's poems and folk songs. For his contribution as a children's writer he received the Hans Christian Andersen Award in 1968. Biography Krüss was born as the son of the electrician Ludwig Krüss and his wife Margaretha Krüss (born Friedrichs) in Heligoland. In 1941, during World War II, the inhabitants of the island were evacuated to Arnstadt, Thuringia, later to Hertigswalde, near Sebnitz, Saxony. After finishing high school in 1943, he studied to become a teacher, first in Lunden until 1943, Schleswig-Holstein, then in Ratzeburg until 1944, then finally in Brunswick. In 1944, he volunteered into the air force and was stationed in Ústí nad Labem, now Czech Republic at the end of World War II. From 1945 he lived with his parents in Cuxhaven.
