Andrea Lee (golfer)
Andrea Lee (born August 15, 1998) is an American professional golfer and member of the LPGA Tour. A golf prodigy, in 2015 and 2019 she spent a total of 17 weeks as world number one in the World Amateur Golf Ranking. Early life, college and amateur career Lee grew up in Hermosa Beach, California. She started competing at age 8 and won 50 junior titles in four years. At 15, she qualified for the 2014 U.S. Women's Open at Pinehurst and made the cut. She finished the 2014 season as the number one ranked player in the American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) after winning two big tournaments on that circuit, the Rolex Tournament of Champions and the Yani Tseng Invitational. The latter victory earned her an exemption into the 2015 Swinging Skirts LPGA Classic where she finished tied 51st. Swinging Skirts LPGA Classic
The Swinging Skirts LPGA Classic was a women's professional golf tournament in California on the LPGA Tour, held at Lake Merced Golf Club in Daly City, an adjacent suburb south of San Francisco. It debuted in April 2014, but ran for just three years, the LPGA Mediheal Championship succeeded it in 2018, also played at Lake Merced. Course history Originally designed by Willie Locke, Lake Merced Golf Club opened in July 1923 and was re-designed in 1929 by Alister MacKenzie, architect of the Augusta National Golf Club. Robert Muir Graves re-routed the course in the 1960s to accommodate Interstate 280, and the most recent revision was completed by Rees Jones in 1996. The Honda Sports Award is an annual award in the United States, given to the best collegiate female athlete in each of twelve sports. There are four nominees for each sport, and the twelve winners of the Honda Sports Award are automatically in the running for the Honda-Broderick Cup award, as the Collegiate Woman Athlete of the Year. Three other athletes are honored as the Division II Athlete of the Year, Division III Athlete of the Year, and Inspiration Award winner. Mariel Galdiano
Mariel Lancy Galdiano (born June 25, 1998) is an American amateur golfer. At age 13 she was the youngest golfer at the 2011 U.S. Women's Open. Galdiano made the cut at the 2015 U.S. Women's Open. She won her sectional qualifier to earn entry into the tournament. Galdiano is a three-time Hawaii High School Athletic Association champion. Galdiano won the 2015 Canadian Women's Amateur. Lee McCoy
Lee McCoy (born February 5, 1994) is an American professional golfer. He played his college golf at the University of Georgia and currently plays professionally on the Korn Ferry Tour. He previously played on the Mackenzie Tour-PGA Tour Canada. Amateur career McCoy was born in Dunedin, Florida, to Terry and Cheryl McCoy. He started playing golf when he was about 18 months old and grew up in a subdivision of Innisbrook Resort and Golf Club. For his final year of high school, McCoy moved to Georgia, where he won the 2012 Class 4A state championship and was named Georgia's player of the year. McCoy played college golf at the University of Georgia; as a junior he was named a first-team All-American and was a member of the U.S. 2015 Walker Cup and Palmer Cup teams. Beau Hossler (born March 16, 1995) is an American professional golfer from Rancho Santa Margarita, California. Hossler was only 17 years old when he qualified for his second consecutive U.S. Open, finishing tied for 29th in the 2012 U.S. Open. He had held the outright lead midway through the second round. Golf competitions at the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto was held from July 16 to 19 at the Angus Glen Golf Club in Markham. A total three golf events were held: a singles event for men and women, along with a mixed team event. Golf made its debut at the Pan American Games, after the sport was added to the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Colombia swept all three gold medals. 2016 Espirito Santo Trophy
The 2016 Espirito Santo Trophy took place 14–17 September at Mayakoba El Camaleon Golf Club and Iberostar Playa Paraiso Golf Club in Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo, Mexico. It was the 27th women's golf World Amateur Team Championship for the Espirito Santo Trophy. The tournament was a 72-hole stroke play team event. There were a record 55 team entries, each with up to three players. Two nations, Bulgaria and Morocco, made their first appearances at the Espirito Santo Trophy. Each team played two rounds at Mayakoba and two rounds at Iberostar in different orders, but all leading teams played the fourth round at Mayakoba. The best two scores for each round counted towards the team total. Curtis Cup
The Curtis Cup is the best known team trophy for women amateur golfers, awarded in the biennial Curtis Cup Match. It is co-organised by the United States Golf Association and The R&A and is contested by teams representing the United States and "Great Britain and Ireland". The same two teams originally contested the Ryder Cup, but unlike that competition, the Curtis Cup has not widened the Great Britain and Ireland team to include all Europeans (nor has the analogous event for amateur men, the Walker Cup). Junior Solheim Cup
The Junior Solheim Cup is a version of the Solheim Cup for girls aged 12 to 18. It was inaugurated in 2002. It is currently officially called the PING Junior Solheim Cup. The Junior Solheim Cup follows a similar format to The Solheim Cup and features the top 12 U.S. amateur girls—defined as girls participating in American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) events—versus their European counterparts. College/university golfers are ineligible to participate in the event, even if they meet the age cutoff. The event is held over two days, with six fourball and six foursomes matches on the first day, and twelve singles matches on the second day.
