Andrea Bettinelli (born 6 October 1978, in Bergamo) is an Italian high jumper. Biography He finished ninth at the 2002 European Championships, sixth at the 2005 European Indoor Championships, eleventh at the 2006 European Championships and fifth at the 2007 European Indoor Championships. He also competed at the European Indoor Championships in 2002 and 2009, the World Championships in 2003, 2005 and 2007, the World Indoor Championships in 2003 and 2004 as well as the 2008 Olympic Games without reaching the final. Bettinelli became Italian high jump champion in 2003, besting Giulio Ciotti, Nicola Ciotti, and Alessandro Talotti that year . He also became indoor champion in 2003 and 2004. The Italian Athletics Championships ( it, Campionati italiani assoluti di atletica leggera) are the national championships in athletics, organised every year by the Federazione Italiana di Atletica Leggera. The first edition, four races only, was held in 1906 at Arena Civica in Milan, just after the foundation of the Federazione Podistica Italiana and with the organization of ''La Gazzetta dello Sport''. Since then, 110 editions were held with the only exceptions of the years 1915-1918 and 1944. During 1945, only athletes of Northern Italy could participate but FIDAL considered this edition as an official one. To the running races, in 1913 the field events were added. Athletics at the 2008 Summer Olympics were held during the last ten days of the games, from August 15 to August 24, 2008, at the Beijing National Stadium. The Olympic sport of athletics is split into four distinct sets of events: track and field events, road running events, and racewalking events. Both men and women had very similar schedules of events. Men competed in 24 events and women in 23, as their schedule lacked the 50 km race walk. In addition, both the men's 110 m hurdles and decathlon are reflected in the women's schedule by the 100 m hurdles and heptathlon, respectively. The Olympic record was broken in 17 returning events. In five events, including the inaugural women's 3000 m steeplechase, the world record was broken. Rieti (; lat, Reate, Sabino: ) is a town and ''comune'' in Lazio, central Italy, with a population of 47,700. Alessandro Talotti (7 October 1980 – 16 May 2021) was an Italian high jumper. Biography Talotti finished fourth at the 2002 European Championships in Athletics and twelfth at the 2004 Olympic Games. He also competed at the 2003 World Championships, the 2005 European Indoor Championships, and the 2008 Olympic Games without reaching the final. Talotti was the Italian high jump champion in 2000 and 2004, out jumping Giulio Ciotti, Nicola Ciotti, and Andrea Bettinelli in those campaigns. Nicola Ciotti (born 5 October 1976 in Rimini) is an Italian high jumper. He is the twin brother of Giulio Ciotti. Biography He finished fifth at the 2005 World Championships and sixth at the 2006 European Championships. He also competed at the European Indoor Championships in 2002, 2005, 2007 and 2009, the World Championships in 2003, 2005 and 2007 as well as the 2004 Olympic Games and the 2006 World Indoor Championships without reaching the final.
