Andre Smith (offensive Tackle)
Andre Dewayne Smith Jr. (born January 25, 1987) is an American football offensive tackle who is a free agent. He played college football for the University of Alabama, and was recognized as a unanimous All-American. He was drafted by the Cincinnati Bengals in the first round, sixth overall, of the 2009 NFL Draft. He has also played for the Minnesota Vikings, Arizona Cardinals, and Baltimore Ravens. Early years Smith was born in Birmingham, Alabama. He attended Huffman High School in Birmingham, where he played football and competed in track. In football, he was a three-year starter, a two-time All-State selection, and Class 6A Lineman of the Year in 2005. After registering 88 pancake blocks his senior season, Smith was selected "Mr. Football" by the Alabama Sports Writers Association, becoming the only offensive lineman to ever win the honor in the association's 23-year history. Andre Phillip Smith (born September 26, 1988) is a former American football tight end in the National Football League for the Chicago Bears, Dallas Cowboys and Cleveland Browns. He played college football at Virginia Tech. Early years Smith attended Seneca Valley High School. He did not play organized football until his freshman season. He was a two-way player at tight end, defensive end and linebacker. As a senior, he registered 18 receptions for 278 yards, 6 touchdowns, 44 tackles and 5 sacks. He received All-league and second-team All-state honors. College career Smith accepted a football scholarship from Virginia Tech. As a sophomore, he had 10 receptions (sixth on the team) for 129 yards and one touchdown. Andre Smith (born April 20, 1997) is an American football linebacker for the Tennessee Titans of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at North Carolina. High school Smith attended Trinity Christian Academy in Jacksonville, Florida. As a senior, he tallied 65 tackles with 5.5 being for loss. He committed to play football for the North Carolina Tar Heels in October 2013. College career Freshman Season As a true freshman in 2015, Smith played in all of North Carolina's 14 games. Andre Smith (July 24, 1958 – March 4, 2023) was an American college basketball player for the Nebraska Cornhuskers in the late 1970s and early 1980s. A native of Chicago, Illinois, Smith played at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln as an undersized center at 6'7". Between 1977–78 and 1980–81, Smith scored 1,717 points in 114 games for a career average of 15.1 points per game. At the time of his graduation, he was second on the all-time Cornhuskers scoring list. Smith is still found in the top 10 on many other school records. During his junior and senior years he was named a First Team All-Big 8 Conference member, and at the conclusion of his final season was named the Big 8 Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Year. He played college basketball for ND State College of Science and North Dakota State before playing nine seasons of professional basketball in Europe and Asia between 2007 and 2016.
