Anderson Serangoon Junior College
Anderson Serangoon Junior College (ASRJC) is a junior college located in Yio Chu Kang, Singapore, opposite Yio Chu Kang MRT station, offering two-year pre-university courses leading to the Singapore-Cambridge GCE Advanced Level examinations. ASRJC was formed after the merger of Anderson Junior College (AJC) and Serangoon Junior College (SRJC) in 2019. ASRJC houses the Elementz Laboratory, the MOE North Zone Centre of Excellence for Science, and Makers Lab. The college hosts the annual Elementz International Science Research Conference and Exhibition, an event that accords recognition to students from secondary school (upper secondary levels) and Junior Colleges who have conducted scientific research to showcase their findings. Yio Chu Kang
Yio Chu Kang is a sub-urban area in the northeast of Singapore, with proximity to the Ang Mo Kio, Lentor, Seletar and Sengkang areas. Deriving its name from the Yio Chu Kang Village, it is still known for lush greenery and low-density housing with high-rise public housing in its southern fringes. Background The name Yio Chu Kang, similar to Choa Chu Kang and Lim Chu Kang did not come from names of famous people unlike many other road names in Singapore. The word 'Kang' - means river, while 'Chu' was apparently a clan. The word 'Chu' itself means "owner" or "land". The clan was hence named Kangchu because it was controlled by the Chu clan and they were situated around a river. Yio Chu Kang MRT station is an above-ground Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) station on the North South line in Ang Mo Kio, Singapore, near the junction of Ang Mo Kio Avenue 6 and Ang Mo Kio Avenue 8.
