Ancaster—Dundas—Flamborough—Aldershot (provincial Electoral District)
Ancaster—Dundas—Flamborough—Aldershot was a provincial electoral district in southwestern Ontario, Canada that elected one Member of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario. It was created in 1999 from Wentworth North, Burlington South and Halton Centre. It was abolished in 2007 into Ancaster—Dundas—Flamborough—Westdale, Burlington, Hamilton Centre, Hamilton Mountain and Niagara West—Glanbrook. The riding included the municipalities of Ancaster, Dundas and Flamborough plus that part of Burlington south of a line going along King Road to the 403 to the QEW. 1999 Ontario General Election
The 1999 Ontario general election was held on June 3, 1999 to elect members of the 37th Legislative Assembly of the Province of Ontario, Canada. The governing Progressive Conservative Party of Ontario, led by Premier Mike Harris, was re-elected to a second majority government. It was the first election in which the Legislative Assembly of Ontario had a reduced number of seats. Previously, the province's riding boundaries were different from those used in federal elections. In the 1999 election, for the first time, provincial riding boundaries were redrawn to precisely match federal ridings, resulting in 27 fewer seats — and 27 fewer Members of Provincial Parliament — in the legislature. John C. Turmel (born February 22, 1951) is a perennial candidate for election in Canada, and according to the ''Guinness World Records'' holds the records for the most elections contested and for the most elections lost, having contested 105 elections and lost 104. The other contest was a by-election that was pre-empted by a general election call. Priscilla de Villiers is a Canadian activist, who was the founder and president of CAVEAT, an organization advocating governmental policy on crime. Biography She was born in South Africa. De Villiers is the mother of Nina de Villiers, a McMaster University student who was murdered on August 9, 1991 by Jonathon Yeo while jogging in Burlington, Ontario. Her killer had, according to CAVEAT's website, "a long history of violence." This event prompted de Villiers to enter public life and found CAVEAT to lobby government policy to strengthen laws in the hopes of preventing similar incidents. Richard Butson
Colonel Arthur Richard Cecil Butson, GC, OMM, CD and Bar (24 October 1922 – 24 March 2015) was born of British parents in China, and later emigrated to Canada. Ted McMeekin (born ) is politician in Ontario, Canada. He is the Ward 15 Councillor, for the City of Hamilton.
