Anatol Ciobanu
Anatol Ciobanu (May 14, 1934 – April 8, 2016) was a Moldovan professor and researcher. He was head of the Department of Romanian language at Moldova State University, a corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova, and a leader of the Democratic Forum of Romanians in Moldova. Biography Anatol Ciobanu was born on May 14, 1934, in Ruseni. He graduated from Moldova State University in 1956 and since 1959 he has been working for this university. Anatol Ciobanu got his PhD in 1973. Since 2001, he has been the head of the Department of Romanian language, general linguistics and Romance of the Moldova State University in Chişinău. In 1992, Anatol Ciobanu became a corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova. Chișinău ( , , ), also known as Kishinev (russian: Кишинёв, r=Kishinjóv ), is the Capital city, capital and largest city of the Republic of Moldova. The city is Moldova's main industrial and commercial center, and is located in the middle of the country, on the river Bîc River, Bâc, a tributary of the Dniester. The Order of the Republic ( ro, Ordinul Republicii) is Moldova's highest order. It is awarded by the President of Moldova for exceptional merits in all fields which benefit Moldova and humanity as a whole. The order was established in July 1992 and its collar and badge are made from silver. A recipient cannot receive the award twice. The next (lower) award is the Order of Ștefan cel Mare. The Academy of Sciences of Moldova ( ro, Academia de Științe a Moldovei), established in 1961, is the main scientific organization of Moldova and coordinates research in all areas of science and technology. The Democratic Forum of the Romanians of Moldova ( ro, Forumul Democrat al Românilor din Moldova) is a civic movement, which brings together over 120 NGOs, several leading public organizations of Moldova and a whole number of academicians, writers, journalists. The Alecu Russo State University (Romanian: ''Universitatea de Stat „Alecu Russo” din Bălți (USARB)'') is a university located in Bălți, Moldova. It was named after the 19th century Romanian illuminist and ethnologist Alecu Russo. History The original complex of buildings in the 1930s housed the financial administration, three high schools (two of which were girls-only) and has the characteristic architecture of the time.
