Anastasiya Dabizha
Anastasiya Dabizha (died 1703), was a princess of Moldavia and Wallachia and a Hetmana of Ukraine by marriage to George Ducas, Prince of Moldavia, Prince of Wallachia, and Hetman of Ukraine (r. 1681-1685). She was daughter of Dafina Catrina, princess-consort of Moldova, by her first husband the Grand Treasurer Dumitry Buhus. When widowed, Dafina Catrina then married Anastasia's stepfather, Eustratie Dabija, whom the family made Prince of Moldavia in 1661. Anastasiya Dabizha is known for her love life, as she had a number of lovers, notably Șerban Cantacuzino, prince of wallachia in 1678-88, which was reported as scandals in contemporary annals. Moldavia
Moldavia ( ro, Moldova, or , literally "The Country of Moldavia"; in Romanian Cyrillic: or ; chu, Землѧ Молдавскаѧ; el, Ἡγεμονία τῆς Μολδαβίας) is a historical region and former principality in Central and Eastern Europe, corresponding to the territory between the Eastern Carpathians and the Dniester River. An initially independent and later autonomous state, it existed from the 14th century to 1859, when it united with Wallachia () as the basis of the modern Romanian state; at various times, Moldavia included the regions of Bessarabia (with the Budjak), all of Bukovina and Hertsa. Wallachia or Walachia (; ro, Țara Românească, lit=The Romanian Land' or 'The Romanian Country, ; archaic: ', Romanian Cyrillic alphabet: ) is a historical and geographical region of Romania. It is situated north of the Lower Danube and south of the Southern Carpathians. Wallachia is traditionally divided into two sections, Muntenia (Greater Wallachia) and Oltenia (Lesser Wallachia). George Ducas
Voivode George Ducas (Greek: ''Γεώργιος Δούκας'', Romanian: ''Gheorghe Duca'') (c. 1620 – 31 March 1685) was three times prince of Moldavia (September 1665 – May 1666, November 1668 – 20 August 1672, November 1678 – January 1684) and one time prince of Wallachia (1673 – 29 November 1678). He was married to Anastasiya Dabizha, the daughter of Eustratie Dabija, and later to Dafina Doamna; George Ducas fathered Constantine Ducas. First two rules in Moldavia Gheorghe Duca was of Albanian origin and like many others of his generation who had migrated to the Danubian principalities he rose thanks to his links to other Albanians of high positions. Șerban Cantacuzino
Șerban Cantacuzino (), (1634/1640 – 29 October 1688) was a Prince of Wallachia between 1678 and 1688. Life and career Cantacuzino took part in the Ottoman campaign which ended in their defeat at the Battle of Vienna. According to Gaster (1911) it was alleged that he conceived the plan of marching on Constantinople to drive the Turks out of Europe, the western powers having promised him their moral support. Cantacuzino introduced maize to Wallachia and present-day Romania, in time the staple food—it was not yet extensively cultivated during his reign. He agreed to the establishment of various printing presses, and ordered the famous Romanian edition of the Bible (the ''Cantacuzino Bible''), first published in Bucharest (1688). Through his influence also the Slavonic language was officially and finally abolished from the liturgy and the Romanian language substituted for it.
