''Ananta'' (), is a Sanskrit term, and primarily an epithet of historical Vishnuism, Vishnu. Vaishnavism It is one of many of the Vishnu Sahasranāma, names of Vishnu. Ananta is also a name of Shesha, the celestial snake, on which Vishnu reclines in the Kshira Sagara, cosmic ocean. In the Mahabharata, Ananta, or Shesha, is the son of Kasyap, Kashyapa, one of the Prajapatis, through Kadru as her eldest son. Kadru had asked her sons to stay suspended in the hair of Uchchaihshravas’s tail who on refusing to do so were cursed to die at the serpent-yajna of Janamejaya. Ananta was saved by Brahma who directed him to go to the nether world and support the world on his hoods, and thus became the king of the Naga Kingdom, Nagas in Patala. Anant Balani
Anant Balani (1962 – 29 August 2003) was a Bollywood film director and screenwriter. He directed films such as ''Patthar Ke Phool'' in 1991 which starred Salman Khan and Raveena Tandon in lead roles. He also wrote the script for ''Insaaf: The Justice'', released in 2004. He died of a heart attack on 29 August 2003 in Mumbai. 2003 had been a strenuous year for him and he had finished three films and was working on a fourth at his time of death. Three of the films that he had directed, namely, ''Joggers' Park'', ''Mumbai Matinee'' and ''Ek Din 24 Ghante'' were released after his death. Ananta Kandali ( as, অনন্ত কন্দলী; 1540–1580) was Brahmin poet from Hajo, Kamrup district. Ananta Kandali's real name was Haricharan, but he is popularly known by his scholastic title "Ananta Kandali". His father, Ratna Pathak, was a renowned scholar and expounder of the Bhagavata at the Madhava temple.
