An Affair Of Three Nations
''An Affair of Three Nations'' is a 1915 American silent film directed by Arnold Daly and Ashley Miller, and produced by Pathé Frères Films. It is based on a story by John T. McIntyre. The film was the first in the "Ashton-Kirk, Investigator" series, and was followed by '' The Menace of the Mute''. It stars Arnold Daly, Sheldon Lewis, William Harrigan, Charles Laite, Charles Krauss, George Melville and Louise Rutter. As with a lot of silent films, it is not known whether the film currently survives. Plot Arnold Daly plays the part of Ashton Kirk, a wealthy and scholarly young man who solves mysteries that have the police puzzled. Kirk is asked by Stella Morse, (Louise Rutter), to find out who is threatening her uncle, Dr. Morse (Sheldon Lewis). A serial film, film serial (or just serial), movie serial, or chapter play, is a motion picture form popular during the first half of the 20th century, consisting of a series of short subjects exhibited in consecutive order at one theater, generally advancing weekly, until the series is completed. Generally, each serial involves a single set of characters, protagonistic and antagonistic, involved in a single story, which has been edited into chapters after the fashion of serial fiction and the episodes cannot be shown out of order or as a single or a random collection of short subjects. A lost film is a feature or short film that no longer exists in any studio archive, private collection, public archive or the U.S. Library of Congress. ''The House of Fear'' was a 1915 American silent mystery film based on a story by John T. McIntyre. It was the third and final film in the ''Ashton-Kirk, Investigator'' series, all directed by Ashley Miller and Arnold Daly and starring Daly. This film is presumed lost. Synopsis Grace Cramp (Jeanne Eagels) and her brother Charles (Sheldon Lewis), ask Ashton-Kirk to investigate strange events involving Mexicans that are occurring at their house. Ashton-Kirk learns from information provided by an agent in Mexico that their father had been an engraver who made forged currency plates when in need of money. The siblings' father had forged currency plates for a thief (Charles Kraus) but had never delivered them. The thief's aunt, Miss Hohenlo (Ina Hammer), and her accomplices have been breaking into the father's house to try to find the engraving plates.
