Amedee Army Airfield
Amedee Army Airfield is a military use airport located nine nautical miles (17 km) north of the central business district of Herlong, in Lassen County, California, United States. It is owned by the United States Army and located at the Sierra Army Depot in the Honey Lake Valley, east of the Sierra Nevada mountain range. History The airfield was built by the United States Army Air Forces about 1942, and was known as Reno Army Air Base Auxiliary Flight Strip. It was an emergency landing airfield for military aircraft on training flights. After World War II, the airfield was retained by the Army, and is used as part of the Sierra Army Depot. Amédée Lighthouse
The Amédée Lighthouse (french: Phare Amédée) is an iron lighthouse located on Amédée Island in New Caledonia, from Nouméa on Grande Terre. The metal components were made by Rigolet in North-East Paris in 1862 and the tower was constructed in Paris as a demonstration. It was then disassembled into pieces weighing a total of and transported along the River Seine to the port of Le Havre for its voyage to New Caledonia. At tall, with 247 steps, it is one of the tallest lighthouses in the world and it was the first metallic lighthouse constructed in France. Its foundation stone was laid on 18 January 1865 and it was first lit on 15 November 1865, the saint day of the Empress Eugénie, wife of Napoleon III. Its light signals the entrance to the passage of Boulari, one of only three natural passages in the reef surrounding New Caledonia. The lake Amédée is a freshwater body of the watershed of the Amédée River, in the territory of the town of Baie-Comeau, in the Manicouagan Regional County Municipality, on the Côte-Nord, in the province of Quebec, in Canada. The Amédée River is a tributary of the St. Lawrence River, crossing the town of Baie-Comeau, in the Manicouagan Regional County Municipality on the Côte-Nord, in the province of Quebec, in Canada. Lynn Amedee
Lynn Amedee (born August 3, 1941) is a former American football player and coach. He served as assistant at nine different colleges and as head coach at the University of Tennessee at Martin. Amedee played quarterback and placekicker under coaches Paul Dietzel and Charles McClendon at Louisiana State from 1960–1962. He was not drafted in the 1963 NFL Draft but started a pro career with the Edmonton Eskimos. From 1963 to 1964, Amedee played in 16 games for the Eskimos. Over the course of the two seasons, he threw for 1,788 yards on 279 attempts with eight touchdowns. Later Amedee started a coaching career, returning to his alma mater as quarterbacks coach under head coach McClendon from 1975 to 1978. In 1980, he became head coach at the University of Tennessee at Martin. He guided the school to an 8–14 record in two years before resigning in order to join the coaching staff at Southwestern Louisiana (now Louisiana-Lafayette). ''Amédée, or How to Get Rid of It'' (french: Amédée ou comment s'en débarrasser) is a play written by Eugène Ionesco in 1954 based on his earlier short story entitled "Oriflamme". Plot The play is about Amédée, a playwright, and his wife Madeleine, a switchboard operator. They discuss how to deal with a continually growing corpse in the other room. The corpse is causing mushrooms to sprout all over the apartment and is apparently arousing suspicion among the neighbours. The audience is given no clear reason why the corpse is there. Madeleine suggests he was the lover Amédée murdered; Amédée gives several alternate explanations. At the end of the play, Amédée attempts to drag the corpse away to dump it in the river. He is seen by many passers-by; one of the witnesses is referred to as "Eugene" and is likely the author himself. When Amédée becomes tangled in the legs, the corpse floats away with Amédée attached.
