Amy Olson
Amy Olson née Anderson (born July 10, 1992) is an American professional golfer on the LPGA Tour. She turned professional in 2013 after her collegiate career at North Dakota State University where she won an NCAA record 20 collegiate events. Amateur career Anderson won numerous local, state, and regional competitions with her most notable win coming in 2009 at the U.S. Girl's Junior at Trump National in Bedminster, New Jersey. In 2011 she was the first woman to compete in the KX Bank of the West Amateur Tournament. College career Anderson competed at North Dakota State University, where she led the women's golf program in scoring each of her four years. She won 20 collegiate events, which beat Juli Inkster's NCAA record of 17 events. In addition to her performance on the golf course, Anderson held a 3.97 GPA in accounting and won the Elite 89 Award as a sophomore, being the student-athlete with the highest GPA (4.0) at the national championship. The Women's Australian Open is a women's professional golf tournament played in Australia, operated by Golf Australia and the WPGA Tour of Australasia, long co-sanctioned by the Ladies European Tour (LET). Beginning with the 2012 event, it is also co-sanctioned by the U.S.-based LPGA Tour. In 2008, it was the second-richest women's golf tournament on the ALPG Tour, with a prize fund of A$500,000, and was raised to A$600,000 in 2010. 2012 Curtis Cup
The 37th Curtis Cup Match was played from 8 to 10 June 2012 at Nairn Golf Club in Nairn, Scotland. Great Britain and Ireland won 10 to 9. Format The contest was a three-day competition, with three foursomes and three fourball matches on each of the first two days, and eight singles matches on the final day, a total of 20 points. Each of the 20 matches is worth one point in the larger team competition. If a match is all square after the 18th hole extra holes are not played. Rather, each side earns a point toward their team total. The team that accumulates at least 10 points wins the competition. In the event of a tie, the current holder retains the Cup. Curtis Cup
The Curtis Cup is the best known team trophy for women amateur golfers, awarded in the biennial Curtis Cup Match. It is co-organised by the United States Golf Association and The R&A and is contested by teams representing the United States and "Great Britain and Ireland". The same two teams originally contested the Ryder Cup, but unlike that competition, the Curtis Cup has not widened the Great Britain and Ireland team to include all Europeans (nor has the analogous event for amateur men, the Walker Cup). The Chevron Championship is a professional women's golf tournament. An event on the LPGA Tour, it is one of the tour's five major championships, and has traditionally been the first of the season since its elevation to major status in 1983.
