Amsterdam–Schiphol Railway
The Amsterdam–Schiphol railway (also known as the ''Westtak Ringspoorbaan'') is an important 17 kilometre long railway line in the Netherlands that connects Amsterdam with Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, and allows trains to continue to Leiden, The Hague, and Rotterdam. History The railway was opened by the Nederlandse Spoorwegen on 1 June 1986. The line prompted the opening of three new stations Amsterdam Sloterdijk, Amsterdam De Vlugtlaan and Amsterdam Lelylaan. A fourth station, Amsterdam Aletta Jacobslaan, was planned but it was never opened; today, the Metro station Henk Sneevlietweg is situated on the proposed site. In 1997 the Metro line 50 opened, running parallel with the line between Isolatorweg (between Amsterdam Centraal and Sloterdijk) and Henk Sneevlietweg (south of Amsterdam Lelylaan). Henk Sneevlietweg Railway Station
Henk Sneevlietweg is an Amsterdam Metro station in the south-west Amsterdam, Netherlands. The station opened in 1997 and is located in the suburb of Nieuw-West is served by Amsterdam Metro#Network, line 50 and Amsterdam Metro#Network, line 51. Henk Sneevlietweg opened on 28 May 1997. The station is elevated above street level on a railway embankment. Amsterdam Lelylaan
Amsterdam Lelylaan is a railway, metro, tram and bus station in west Amsterdam. It is served by trains of the Nederlandse Spoorwegen and metros of the GVB. The station opened on 1 June 1986. It is located on the Amsterdam-Schiphol railway, a few km south of Amsterdam Sloterdijk railway station. South of this station, trains turn west towards Schiphol railway station, while metros turn east towards Amsterdam Zuid railway station. The station is located in the Amsterdam borough of Slotervaart, on a long viaduct spanning three roads. History Construction The station was built in 1986 when a link was constructed from Amsterdam Centraal to Schiphol Airport. Amsterdam De Vlugtlaan Metro Station
De Vlugtlaan is a metro station on Line 50 and Line 51 in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Between 1986 and 2000, Amsterdam De Vlugtlaan railway station was in use on the railway running parallel next to the metro line. History The railway station opened on 1 June 1986 together with the western section of the Amsterdam Ring railway. It was situated between Amsterdam Lelylaan and . The station was originally to be called Burgemeester De Vlugtlaan, named after , Mayor of Amsterdam from 1921 to 1941. However, the "Burgemeester" ("mayor") was eventually dropped. The station was designed by Rob Steenhuis, architect of over then stations in the Netherlands in the period from 1982 to 1996. Hemboog
Amsterdam Sloterdijk is a major railway junction to the west of Amsterdam Centraal station. It is at a rail-rail crossing, with an additional chord (Hemboog). It is on the railway line from Amsterdam Centraal to Haarlem and the last station before the junction where the line Amsterdam Centraal-Zaandam diverges from it and on the crossing west branch of the Amsterdam–Schiphol railway line between Schiphol and Amsterdam Centraal. The Hemboog chord connects the crossing lines, providing a direct connection between Schiphol and Zaandam. There are platforms at both crossing lines and at the Hemboog; for the latter there is a separate entrance on another side of the station square. Zaandam is the main railway station of Zaandam, near Amsterdam, Netherlands. It is at the junction of the Den Helder–Amsterdam railway and the Zaandam–Enkhuizen railway. Haarlem Railway Station
Haarlem railway station is located in Haarlem in North Holland, Netherlands. The station opened at September 20, 1839, on the Amsterdam–Rotterdam railway, the first railway line in the Netherlands. The station building itself is a ''rijksmonument''. History The original, wooden station was built on the Oude Weg, just outside the Amsterdamse Poort in 1839 to accommodate the passengers of the first railway in the Netherlands between Haarlem and Amsterdam.
