Amritpal Singh (basketball)
Amritpal Singh (born January 5, 1991) is an Indian professional basketball player who represents Punjab at the National Basketball Championship. In the past, he played for the Sydney Kings of the Australian National Basketball League. Early life Amritpal Singh comes from a family of farmers. He began playing basketball in 2009, after playing kabaddi as a youth. In March 2010, he joined the Ludhiana Basketball Academy. Professional career In August 2015, Amritpal Singh signed with Tokyo Excellence of Japan's National Basketball Development League (NBDL). After putting up impressive performances in the BJ Challenge Summer League from June to August playing for the Hyogo Impulse team, Singh secured a one-year contract with the Tokyo team. The center (C), or the centre, also known as the five or the pivot, is one of the five Basketball position, positions in a regulation basketball game. The center is normally the tallest player on the team, and often has a great deal of strength and body mass as well. In the NBA, the center is typically close to tall. They traditionally play close to the basket in the low post. Vishesh Bhriguvanshi (born 13 November 1991) is an Indian professional basketball player who is the captain of the Indian National Basketball Team, and most recently, a player with the Adelaide 36ers of the National Basketball League (NBL). Bhriguvanshi was awarded the Arjuna Award by Govt. of India for the year 2020. Bhriguvanshi also has a biography by Nirupma Baghley, titled ''Vishesh: Code To Win'', about him being India’s youngest captain. Early life Bhriguvanshi was born and brought up in Uttar Pradesh. 2017 FIBA Asia Cup
The 2017 FIBA Asia Cup (formerly known as the FIBA Asia Championship) was the 29th continental basketball championship in Asia. The tournament was organised by FIBA Asia. It took place from 8 to 20 August 2017, a week earlier from the initial scheduled date, in Lebanon. The Nouhad Nawfal Arena with a capacity of 8,000 seats hosted the tournament's matches. All 16 teams who qualified for the tournament also qualified for the first round of the FIBA Asia and FIBA Oceania qualifiers for the 2019 FIBA World Cup. The top five teams in the 2016 FIBA Asia Challenge earned an extra berth in the 2017 FIBA Asia Cup for their respective sub-zones. 2016 FIBA Asia Champions Cup
The 2016 FIBA Asia Champions Cup was the 25th staging of the FIBA Asia Champions Cup, the international basketball club tournament of FIBA Asia. The tournament took place in Chenzhou, China from 8 October to 16 October, 2016. The venue of the tournament was Chenzhou Olympic Sports Centre Gymnasium. This was the return of the tournament after a two-year hiatus since the 2013 edition. Xinjiang Flying Tigers from China, which used the name 'China Kashgar' during this tournament, won its first ever FIBA Asia Champions Cup title in its tournament debut. After going undefeated in the entire tournament, Xinjiang defeated Al-Riyadi from Lebanon in the final game, 96–88. It was the fourth time a club from China has won the championship. The 2016 FIBA Asia Challenge was the 6th FIBA Asia Challenge, an international basketball tournament of FIBA Asia which was hosted by Iran from 9–18 September 2016. This tournament served as the first step in determining the process of the qualifiers for the 2017 FIBA Asia Cup which will feature teams from both FIBA Asia and FIBA Oceania for the first time. Iran are the defending champion from 2014. The top five teams earned their respective sub-confederations an extra berth for the 2017 FIBA Asia Cup which is formerly named as the FIBA Asia Championship. 2015 FIBA Asia Championship
The 2015 FIBA Asia Championship was the 28th and last edition of the FIBA Asia Championship in men's basketball in Asia. It was organised by FIBA Asia. At the FIBA Asia Congress held in Doha, Qatar, the Central Board awarded the hosting rights to China. On 4 December 2014, the Chinese Basketball Association acquired approval from FIBA Asia to hold the men's championship at Changsha, Hunan, with the women's championship to be held at Wuhan, Hubei. 2013 FIBA Asia Championship
The 2013 FIBA Asia Championship for Men was the intercontinental championship for basketball organized by FIBA Asia that served as the qualifying tournament for the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup in Spain. The tournament was held from August 1–11 in Metro Manila, Philippines. Beirut, Lebanon was supposed to host the tournament but the hosting rights was given to the Philippines citing the Syrian Civil War and security concerns in the Middle East in general.
