Ammanford RFC
Ammanford Rugby Football Club is a rugby union team from the town of Ammanford, West Wales. The club is a member of the Welsh Rugby Union and is a feeder club for the Llanelli Scarlets. History Ammanford RFC's first officially recorded rugby match came in 1887 against a team from Mynyddbach, Swansea. The game was played at Ynys field opposite the River Amman and their initial clubhouse was the Cross Inn Hotel at Ammanford Square. Ammanford's first official strip colours were amber and black, then switching colours twice before the club settled on black and blue in 1912. In 1889, Ammanford RFC produced their first international player in Percy Lloyd. Lloyd played four international matches between 1889 and 1890 for Wales, against Scotland, Ireland and England twice. During the 1895-96 season Ammanford RFC successfully gained membership to the Welsh Rugby Union. Ammanford
Ammanford ( cy, Rhydaman) is a town and community in Carmarthenshire, Wales, with a population of 5,411 at the 2011 census. It is a former coal mining town. The built-up area had a population of 7,945 with the wider urban area even bigger. According to the 2001 census, 75.88% of the population were competent in the Welsh language, compared to roughly 61% in Carmarthenshire as a whole and 21.8% in Wales as a whole. Ammanford is served by the A483 and A474 roads. Ammanford railway station is a stop on the Heart of Wales Line, with trains to Llanelli and Swansea to the south and Shrewsbury to the north. Daniel Evans (rugby Player)
Daniel Evans (born 15 November 1988) is a Welsh rugby union player who plays as a full-back. Career Evans was part of the Scarlets U16 team that formed part of an age grade clean sweep for the region in the inaugural season of the Reebok Regional Championships, and was part of the Scarlets U18 team that lost to the Ospreys in the U18 Final the following season. During the 2006–07 season, Evans turned out for the Scarlets U20 at fullback as they finished third in the Championship. Evans was a regular performer for Llanelli RFC scoring a try in the Welsh Cup quarter-final against Pontypridd as Llanelli knocked the holders out to make their way through to the semi-finals. Don Tarr
Donald James Tarr (11 March 1910 – 4 June 1980) was a Welsh international hooker who played club rugby for Swansea and Cardiff, county rugby for Hampshire and invitational rugby for the Barbarians. Tarr was a career naval officer, reaching the rank of Lieutenant Commander in the Royal Navy. Rugby career Tarr began his rugby career as a school boy, representing the Welsh Secondary Schools team. Joe Rees (rugby Union, Born 1893)
Joseph Rees (3 June 1893 – 12 April 1950) was a Welsh international rugby union full-back who played club rugby for Swansea RFC, Swansea. Rees made his debut for Swansea in 1919 and captained his club in the 1922/23 season. Rees would play 12 times for Wales national rugby union team, Wales, and captained them on one occasion. Samson Lee
Samson Lee (born 30 November 1992) is a Wales international rugby union player currently playing for the Scarlets having previously played for Llanelli and Ammanford. His position is prop forward. Lee has represented Wales, making his debut against Argentina in November 2013. Club career Lee began playing rugby with the Felinfoel RFC youth side, as well as with Coedcae School. The Rev Thomas "Tom" Henry Hollingdale AKC (12 November 1900 – 14 April 1978), was a Church of England cleric and Wales international rugby player. Rugby career Thomas Hollingdale was born in Waunarlwydd on 12 November 1900. He attended Waunarlwydd School and Gowerton County School. Thomas Henry Evans (31 December 1882 - 19 March 1955) was a Welsh international rugby union flanker who played club rugby for Llanelli. Evans played in eighteen international games for Wales, and in 1908 was part of the Welsh team that faced touring Australian team.
