Amir Naderi
Amir Naderi ( fa, امیر نادری (), born 15 August 1946, in Abadan) is an Iranian film director, screenwriter, and photographer. He is best known for '' The Runner'' and ''Vegas: Based on a True Story''. Career Amir Naderi grew up in Abadan, a working-class port city in the south of Iran. He became interested in photography and cinema at an early age. As a filmmaker he was inspired by Henri Cartier-Bresson's photography of urban experience and everyday life, as well as the aesthetics of Italian neorealist cinema, such as location shooting, the use of nonprofessional actors, looser narrative structures, and a focus on the plight of poor and working-class people. Naderi's early films explored similar themes and visual strategies, but they did so within the context of Iranian life and culture. Naderi made his directorial debut with ''Goodbye Friend'' in 1971. Monte (film)
''Monte'' is a 2016 Italian-American-French drama film co-written and directed by Amir Naderi. It premiered out of competition at the 73rd edition of the Venice Film Festival. Plot In a remote past, identifiable with the period of the Middle Ages, in a semi-abandoned village at the foot of a mountain lives Agostino with his wife Nina and son Giovanni and with a little girl whose funeral is celebrated right at the opening of the film. The mountain overlooks the village and rises like a wall against the sun's rays that never reach their land, reduced to stones and scrub. People die of hunger and emigrate but the protagonist Augustine, despite all the suggestion to leave, does not want to submit to poverty and decides that the fate of his family is there, among the peaks. Abadan
Abadan ( fa, آبادان ''Ābādān'', ) is a city and capital of Abadan County, Khuzestan Province, which is located in the southwest of Iran. It lies on Abadan Island ( long, 3–19 km or 2–12 miles wide). The island is bounded in the west by the Arvand waterway and to the east by the Bahmanshir outlet of the Karun River (the Arvand Rood), from the Persian Gulf, near the Iran–Iraq border. Abadan is 140 km from the provincial capital city of Ahvaz. Etymology The earliest mention of the island of Abadan, if not the port itself, is found in works of the geographer Marcian, who renders the name "Apphadana".
