Amigão Stadium
Estádio Governador Ernani Sátyro, usually known by its nickname Amigão (sometimes called O Amigão), is a multi-purpose stadium in Campina Grande, Brazil. It is currently used mostly for football matches. The stadium holds 35,000. The stadium was built in 1975. The Amigão is owned by the government of Paraíba state. The stadium is named after Ernani Sátyro, who was the governor of Paraíba state from 1971 to 1975. ''Amigão'' means ''Big Friend'' in Portuguese language and it refers to the way Ernani Sátyro called his voters, ''amigos velhos'', meaning ''old friends''. ''Ernani'' is an operatic ''dramma lirico'' in four acts by Giuseppe Verdi to an Italian libretto by Francesco Maria Piave, based on the 1830 play ''Hernani (drama), Hernani'' by Victor Hugo. Verdi was commissioned by the Teatro La Fenice in Venice to write an opera, but finding the right subject took some time, and the composer worked with the inexperienced Piave in shaping first one and then another drama by Hugo into an acceptable libretto. The Campeonato Brasileiro Série C is the third tier of the Brazilian football league system. Unlike the first and second divisions, the Série C is not played in a double round robin system, arguably because many participating teams lack the financial conditions to travel long distances.
