Amigos De Gines
The Amigos de Gines are a traditional Spanish singing group for the singing of sevillanas ''Sevillanas'' () are a type of folk music and dance of Sevilla and its region. They were derived from the Seguidilla, an old Castilian folk music and dance genre. In the nineteenth century they were influenced by Flamenco. They have a relat ... formed in Gines, Seville in 1969. The original members were the brothers Luis Baras and Carlos Baras, with Alfredo Santiago and Juan Antonio Hurtado. ''Sevillanas'' () are a type of folk music and dance of Sevilla and its region. They were derived from the Seguidilla, an old Castilian folk music and dance genre. In the nineteenth century they were influenced by Flamenco. They have a relatively limited musical pattern but are rich in lyrics based on country life, virgins, country towns, neighborhoods, pilgrimage, and love themes. ''Sevillanas'' can be heard mainly in fairs and festivals, including the famous Seville Fair (''Feria de abril de Sevilla''). Among local groups that perform it are the Los Romeros de la Puebla, Los Amigos de Gines, Las Corraleras de Lebrija, Cantores de Hispalis, and Los del Río. Sevillanas Rocieras are a religiously oriented genre of the Sevillana, with a particular emphasis on the Virgin of the Rocío. Gines is a municipality in the south-west Spain, in the province of Seville, Andalusia. It is part of the metropolitan area of Seville. Gines has a population of 13,529 inhabitants as of 2021 and an area of . Founded in Roman times, the land has been inhabited since prehistoric times, and for centuries the production of olives and olive oil has been of great importance due to the fertility of its land. Since the mid-twentieth century a process population growth began due to the proximity to Seville.
