Amherstview Jets
The Amherstview Jets are a Canadian Junior ice hockey team based in Amherstview, Ontario, Canada. As of the 2016/17 hockey season they play in the Provincial Junior Hockey League of the Ontario Hockey Association. Prior to that they were members of the Empire B Junior C Hockey League. This league became the Tod Division (East Conference) of the Provincial Junior Hockey League. History The Amherstview Jets originated in the 1970s as the Ernestown Jets, in the Township of Ernestown, Ontario, now known as the Township of Loyalist, Ontario. Amherstview is a community within Loyalist Township. The Jets originated as a member of the Quinte-St. Lawrence Junior C Hockey League. In 1982, the Ernestown Jets changed their names to the Ernestown Dynamiters. In 1984, as the Quinte-St. Lawrence league was in decline, the Ernestown franchise went on hiatus. Provincial Junior Hockey League
The Provincial Junior Hockey League (PJHL) is a Canadian junior ice hockey league spanning parts of Southern Ontario. The PJHL is the third tier of the Ontario Hockey Association and is sanctioned by the Ontario Hockey Federation and Hockey Canada. The league was formed in 2016 with the merging of eight Junior C leagues. PJHL teams compete for the Clarence Schmalz Cup. History In the works since 2014, it was announced in the spring of 2016 that the eight Junior C leagues of the Ontario Hockey Association would merge for the 2016-17 season to create the Provincial Junior Hockey League. The Empire B Junior C Hockey League is a former Junior "C" ice hockey league in Ontario, Canada, sanctioned by the Ontario Hockey Association. Bryan Allen (ice Hockey)
Bryan Nigel Allen (born August 21, 1980) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey defenceman who played in the National Hockey League (NHL) between 2001 and 2014. Playing career Allen was the fourth overall selection in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft to the Vancouver Canucks. A big, bruising defender with a mean streak, Allen earned comparisons to Derian Hatcher at the time of his selection. Allen made the Canucks at age 18 in his first camp, but was unable to reach a contract with the team's management and returned to the Ontario Hockey League (OHL)'s Oshawa Generals, his junior team. Despite being limited to 37 out of his team's 66 games, his strong leadership style of play earned him OHL First All-Star Team honours. The Picton Pirates are a Junior ice hockey team based in Picton, Ontario, Canada. They play in the Tod Division of the Provincial Junior Hockey League. League history Nicknamed the "Patcheyes", the Picton Pirates were founded in 1989 as members of the Eastern Ontario Junior C Hockey League. The Lakefield Chiefs are a Canadian Junior ice hockey team based in Lakefield, Ontario, Canada. Napanee Raiders
The Napanee Raiders are a Junior ice hockey team based in Napanee, Ontario, Canada. They play in the Provincial Junior Hockey League of the Ontario Hockey Association. History The current Napanee Junior C hockey team found its genesis in the 1960s as a member of the Eastern Junior C Hockey League when the team was known as the Napanee Red Wings and later the Napanee Legion. In 1966 the team changed its name to the Napanee Kelly Tiremen, a name that remained with the team through to the 1980 season. Campbellford Rebels
The Campbellford Rebels are a Canadian Junior ice hockey team based in Campbellford, Ontario, Canada. They play in the Tod Division of the Provincial Junior Hockey League, and were formerly members of the Empire B Junior C Hockey League of the Ontario Hockey Association. Frontenac Flyers
The Frontenac Flyers were a Junior ice hockey team based in Verona, Ontario, Canada. They played in the Empire B Junior C Hockey League of the Ontario Hockey Association. History The Frontenac Flyers were founded in 1989 as members of the Eastern Ontario Junior C Hockey League. They get their name from the county in which Verona is located, Frontenac County, Ontario. The Flyers' first season proved to be an excellent one. In thirty regular season games, the Flyers finished in second place overall with a record of twenty-three wins and only seven losses. Uxbridge Bruins
The Uxbridge Bruins are a Junior ice hockey team based in Uxbridge, Ontario, Canada. Clarence Schmalz Cup
The Clarence Schmalz Cup is the Ontario Hockey Association's Junior "C" ice hockey championship and championship trophy. The champions of the Provincial Junior Hockey League (PJHL) are awarded the Cup. The PJHL was formed in 2016 from the former 8 provincial leagues that previously competed in a tournament, commonly called the All-Ontario Championships, to determine the winner of the Cup. Tubby Schmalz The trophy was named in honour of Clarence "Tubby" Schmalz, an administrator from Walkerton, Ontario. He served as the Ontario Hockey Association president from 1969 to 1972.
