Amherstburg is a town near the mouth of the Detroit River in Essex County, Ontario, Canada. In 1796, Fort Malden was established here, stimulating growth in the settlement. Amherst () is a town in Erie County, New York, United States. Amherst is an inner ring suburb of Buffalo. As of 2020, the town had a total population of 129,595. This represents an increase from 122,366 as reported in the 2010 census. Amherst is a census-designated place (CDP) and the main village in the town of Amherst in Hillsborough County, New Hampshire, United States. The population of the CDP was 697 at the 2020 census, out of 11,753 in the entire town. The village center is listed on the National Register of Historic Places as the Amherst Village Historic District. Saglaarjuk (Inuktitut syllabics''ᓴᒡᓛᕐᔪᒃ'') formerly Amherst Island is one of several uninhabited, irregularly shaped islands located on the south side of the Fury and Hecla Strait of Nunavut's Qikiqtaaluk Region within the northern Canadian Arctic. It is west of Liddon Island, north of Grinnell Lake on the mainland's Melville Peninsula, and south of Baffin Island. The island was, at one time, named for Jeffery Amherst, 1st Baron Amherst, a British Army officer who was command forces that captured Louisburg, Quebec and Montreal from the French and later became Governors General of Province of Quebec.
