Richard Amery
Richard Sanderson Amery (born 31 March 1951) is an Australian former politician. He was a Labor Party member of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly from 1983 to 2015, representing the electorates of Riverstone (1983-1991) and Mount Druitt (1991-2015). Early career Prior to entering politics, Amery spent several years in the retail industry before becoming a police officer with New South Wales Police, where he served for 13 years. At the time he resigned to take up his political work he was a senior constable. Parliamentary career Amery was the Minister for Agriculture from 1995 to 1997, when he was allocated additional responsibilities as Minister for Land and Water Conservation. He served as minister in both portfolios until 2001, when the Land and Water Conservation was allocated to another minister and Amery took on Corrective Services. Amery is an unincorporated area and community in Census division 23 in Northern Manitoba, Canada, located northeast of the Limestone Generating Station (on the Nelson River). William Bankes Amery CBE (26 October 1883 – 26 November 1951) was a British civil servant and accountant, also known as W. Bankes Amery and W. Bankes-Amery. The Amery Ice Shelf in Antarctica was named after him by Douglas Mawson. Life The eldest son of Thomas Arthur Amery, of Norwell, Newark, Nottinghamshire, Amery was educated at Christ's Hospital. Making a career in the civil service, he was an Assistant Secretary in the War Trade Department from 1916 to 1919, then an Establishment Officer at the Ministry of Transport until 1922. That year, he became a Finance Officer in the Overseas Settlement Department of the Dominions Office, and in 1925 was appointed as Representative of the British government in Australia under the Empire Settlement Act 1922, that is, as a key official of the Home Children child migration scheme. Shenda Amery is a British painter and sculptor. Biography Amery was born in 1937 in London, England. In 1959 she relocated to Tehran, Iran. She is a member of the Chelsea Art Society, Free Painters and Sculptors, and the Royal Society of Sculptors. She was married to Nezam Khazal, an Iranian architect. Moe Amery (né Amiri; September 20, 1954) is a former member of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta, who represented the constituency of Calgary-East as a Progressive Conservative. Early life Amery was born Moe Amiri (he changed his name sometime between 1989 and 1993) in Lebanon on September 20, 1954, and came to Canada in 1974. He studied at the University of Alberta from 1975 until 1977, after which time he relocated to Calgary to become a realtor until his election to the Legislative Assembly of Alberta in 1993.
