"American Made" is a song written by Bob DiPiero and Pat McManus, and recorded by American country music group The Oak Ridge Boys. It was released in February 1983 as the first single and title track from the album '' American Made''. The song was The Oak Ridge Boys' seventh number one on the country chart. The single went to number one for one week and spent a total of thirteen weeks on the country chart. "American Made was also one of their biggest cross-over hits peaking at number seventy-two on the Hot 100. Content In the song, the narrator laments over so many other items that he needs for daily living being foreign made with foreign sounding names but is happy that his "baby" isn't this but instead is what the song's title says, "from her silky long hair to her sexy long legs". BoDeans is an American rock band formed in Waukesha, Wisconsin. BoDeans came to prominence in the 1980s. The band's sound encompasses multiple rock genres, including roots rock, heartland rock, and alternative rock. The band's biggest hit to date is " Closer to Free", which was used as the theme song to the hit TV series ''Party of Five''. The band has been described as "one of the most successful, and best known, bands to come out of the Milwaukee area". BoDeans is included in a permanent installation at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Museum in Cleveland, Ohio. Michael Stephen Portnoy (born April 20, 1967) is an American musician who is primarily known as the former drummer, backing vocalist, and co-founder of the progressive metal band Dream Theater. In September 2010, Portnoy announced his departure from Dream Theater after 25 years, with Mike Mangini taking his place as drummer of the band. Since his departure Portnoy has remained active, with a variety of bands and projects, including Adrenaline Mob, Transatlantic, Yellow Matter Custard, Flying Colors, The Winery Dogs, Liquid Tension Experiment, Metal Allegiance, Sons of Apollo, the Neal Morse Band and BPMD. ''American Made'' is a 2017 American action comedy film directed by Doug Liman, written by Gary Spinelli, and starring Tom Cruise, Domhnall Gleeson, Sarah Wright, Alejandro Edda, Mauricio Mejía, Caleb Landry Jones, and Jesse Plemons. It is inspired by the life of Barry Seal, a former TWA pilot who flew missions for the CIA, and became a drug smuggler for the Medellín Cartel in the 1980s. In order to avoid jail time, Seal became an informant for the DEA. The film was first released in Taiwan on August 18, 2017, and then in the United States on September 29, 2017.
