Insomniac (Green Day Album)
''Insomniac'' is the fourth studio album by American rock band Green Day, released on October 10, 1995, by Reprise Records. It was recorded at Hyde Street in San Francisco, and the band prioritized high-energy takes during the recording sessions. Released as the follow-up to the band's multi-platinum breakthrough ''Dookie'', ''Insomniac'' featured a heavier, hardcore punk sound, with bleaker lyrics than its predecessor. Lyrically, the album discusses themes such as alienation, anxiety, boredom, and drug use. ''Insomniac'' also served as a reaction to many early fans who had turned their backs on the band after it achieved mainstream success with ''Dookie''. The album received generally positive reviews from critics, who praised frontman Billie Joe Armstrong's songwriting and sarcastic sense of humor. Three songs were released as singles, "Geek Stink Breath", " Stuck with Me", and "Brain Stew / Jaded". Though it peaked at number 2 on the ''Billboard'' 200 chart and was certifi ...

She (Green Day Song)
"She" is a song by the American rock band Green Day. It is the eighth track on their third album, ''Dookie'' and was released as the fifth and final single. The song was written by frontman Billie Joe Armstrong about a former girlfriend who showed him a feminist poem with an identical title. In return, Armstrong wrote the lyrics of "She" and showed them to her. She later dumped him and moved to Ecuador, prompting Armstrong to put "She" on the album. The same ex-girlfriend is the topic of the songs "Sassafras Roots" and "Chump". It is one of the few Green Day singles that did not have a music video. The song is notorious for a concert where Armstrong performed the song nude. Track listing Reception The song has been frequently listed as one of their best songs. Kerrang! listed it as their second best song, while Rolling Stone listed it as their seventh. PopMatters listed "She" as the eighth best Green Day song, citing ""She" is sensitive without being soft; in between Armstrong's e ...

In 2001, the song appeared on their greatest hits album ''International Superhits!''. In 2021, "Basket Case" was ranked no. 150 in Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Songs of All Time. Origin and recording Green Day vocalist/guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong said "Basket Case" is about his struggle with anxiety; before he was diagnosed with a panic disorder years afterward, he thought he was going crazy. Armstrong commented that at the time, "The only way I could know what the hell was going on was to write a song about it." "Basket Case" was one of the songs producer Rob Cavallo heard when he received Green Day's demo tape. He ended up signing the band ...

Brain Stew / Jaded
"Brain Stew" and "Jaded" are two songs released as a joint single by American rock band Green Day. They appear as the tenth and eleventh tracks and third single from the group's fourth studio album, '' Insomniac''. The song was also included on '' Godzilla: The Album''. The two songs were released as one single, as the songs are transitional – "Brain Stew" segues directly into "Jaded". After 9/11, "Brain Stew" was placed on Clear Channel's list of post-9/11 inappropriate titles. The song "Brain Stew" is about Armstrong dealing with insomnia. According to Armstrong himself, "Brain Stew" was originally called "Insomniac" on demo (hence the title of the album on which it is featured), and "Brain Stew" is a reference to Armstrong's long-time friend, James Washburn, who is nicknamed Brain Stew. There is also a limited edition CD single of the two songs in which the disc is in the shape of a brain. Both "Brain Stew" and "Jaded" were included in the band's first greatest hits album ...

In the US, it reached number 19 on the US ''Billboard'' Hot 100 and number one on the Hot Modern Rock Tracks and Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks charts. Jesus Of Suburbia
"Jesus of Suburbia" is a song by American rock band Green Day. It was released as the fifth and final single from the group's seventh studio album, '' American Idiot'', and the second song on the album. With the song running for 9 minutes and 8 seconds, it is Green Day's second longest song (with the band's longest song being fellow ''American Idiot'' song "Homecoming", which runs for 9 minutes and 18 seconds) and the group's longest song to be released as a single. The studio version of the song was considered to be unfriendly for radio, so it was cut down to 6½ minutes for the radio edit. The long version was still played on many album rock and alternative rock radio stations. At most live shows on the first leg of the group's 21st Century Breakdown World Tour, the band would pick a member from the audience to play guitar for the song. The single has sold 205,000 copies as of July 2010. Despite its commercial success, the song is the only hit single from the ''American Idiot'' ...
