American Grand Prix Association
The American Grandprix Association (AGA) is a national association that promotes Olympic-level show jumping in the United States. The AGA was established in 1978 by Eugene R. Mische. Leonard King was the AGA's president from 1978 through 1999. As of 2004, it ran 33 show jumping events in 20 states, with $3 million in prize money. The AGA awards an annual Rider of the Year award based on points, and annual Rookie of the Year and Horse of the Year awards based on money. Margie Goldstein-Engle (born March 31, 1958) is an American show jumping equestrian, and a 10-time American Grandprix Association Rider of the Year. Early and personal life She was born in Wellington, Florida, to Mona (an elementary school principal and teacher) and Irvin Goldstein (an accountant), and is Jewish. She grew up in her middle-class family in South Miami, Florida, with two older brothers. In third grade, she became passionate about horses. At the age of nine, she took jobs at horse barns and dog kennels as a way to pay for riding lessons. Less affluent than other riders, she said: "You're maybe not dressed like the other riders. International Jewish Sports Hall Of Fame
The International Jewish Sports Hall of Fame ( he, יד לאיש הספורט היהודי, translit=Yad Le'ish HaSport HaYehudi) was opened July 7, 1981 in Netanya, Israel. It honors Jewish athletes and their accomplishments from anywhere around the world. It is located at the Wingate Institute for Physical Education and Sport. It has inducted over 400 athletes and sportspersons representing 40 countries. The Hall elects new honorees each year, with submissions due December 1 for votes for the following year, and a formal induction ceremony taking place several days prior to the Maccabiah Games every four years. The Hall was founded by Joseph M. Siegman, a television producer and writer who lives in Beverly Hills, California.
