American Empire (film)
''American Empire'' is a 1942 American Western film directed by William C. McGann. The film was released in the United Kingdom as ''My Son Alone''. Plot Three Civil War vets head to Texas and build a cattle empire, and battle rustlers, bad weather and each other. The first man abandons ship, and he is soon followed by the second partner. That leaves the "good guy" to defend his property from the vengeful traitors. Cliff Edwards
Clifton Avon "Cliff" Edwards (June 14, 1895 – July 17, 1971), nicknamed "Ukulele Ike", was an American singer, musician and actor. He enjoyed considerable popularity in the 1920s and early 1930s, specializing in jazzy renditions of pop standards and novelty tunes. He had a number one hit with "Singin' in the Rain" in 1929. He also did voices for animated cartoons later in his career, and he is best known as the voice of Jiminy Cricket in Walt Disney's ''Pinocchio'' (1940) and '' Fun and Fancy Free'' (1947), and Dandy (Jim) Crow in Walt Disney's ''Dumbo'' (1941). Early life and musical career Edwards was born in Hannibal, Missouri. Lew Pollack
Lew Pollack (June 16, 1895 – January 18, 1946) was an American song composer and musician active during the 1920s and the 1930s. Career Pollack was born in New York City where he went to DeWitt Clinton High School and was active as a boy soprano in a choral group headed by Walter Damrosch. Starting out as a singer and pianist in vaudeville acts he began writing theme music for silent films before collaborating with others on popular songs. In 1914, he wrote " That's a Plenty", a rag that became an enduring Dixieland standard. Floyd Taliaferro Alderson (November 13, 1895 – February 10, 1980) was an American film actor who specialized in westerns. After serving in the Great War, he began his career in the era of silent films, when he frequently used the name Wally Wales. Although he transitioned to sound, he was given smaller parts, and used the name Hal Taliaferro. He appeared in more than 220 films between 1921 and 1964. He lived his later years in Montana at his family ranch. Etta McDaniel (December 1, 1890January 13, 1946) was an American actress who appeared in over 60 films between 1933 and 1946. She was the sister of actor Sam McDaniel and actress and Academy Award winner Hattie McDaniel. Early life McDaniel was born in Wichita, Kansas. She began her entertainment career as a member of minstrel shows with several others of her family. Etta married John Alfred Goff, 2 Dec 1908, in Denver, Colorado. Her son was Edgar Henry Goff.
