American Athletic Conference Baseball Tournament
The American Athletic Conference basetball tournament is the conference championship tournament in college baseball for the American Athletic Conference. It is a round-robin tournament, with seeding based on regular season records. The winner receives the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Division I Baseball Championship each season. The Tournament champion is separate from the conference champion. The conference championship is determined solely by regular season record. The American is one of two successors to the original Big East Conference, which split after the 2013 season. The tournament was held in the same location as the previous six Big East Conference baseball tournaments in 2014, at Bright House Field in Clearwater, Florida. A double-elimination tournament is a type of elimination tournament competition in which a participant ceases to be eligible to win the tournament's championship upon having lost ''two'' games or matches. It stands in contrast to a single-elimination tournament, in which only ''one'' defeat results in elimination. One method of arranging a double-elimination tournament is to break the competitors into two sets of brackets, the ''winners' bracket'' and ''losers' bracket'' (''W'' and ''L'' brackets for short; also referred to as ''championship bracket'' and ''elimination bracket'', ''upper bracket'' and ''lower bracket'', or ''main bracket'' and ''repechage'') after the first round. The 2021 American Athletic Conference Baseball Tournament was held at BayCare Ballpark in Clearwater, Florida from May 25 through May 30. The event, held at the end of the conference regular season, determined the champion of the American Athletic Conference for the 2021 season. The winner of the double-elimination tournament, South Florida, received the conference's automatic bid to the 2021 NCAA Division I Baseball Tournament. Format and seeding The top eight baseball teams in The American were seeded based on their records in conference play. The tournament used a two bracket double-elimination format, leading to a single championship game between the winners of each bracket. Anthony Kay (baseball)
Anthony Benjamin Kay (born March 21, 1995) is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Chicago Cubs of Major League Baseball (MLB). He has previously played in MLB for the Toronto Blue Jays. Kay was drafted by the New York Mets in the first round with the 31st pick in the 2016 MLB draft. Career Amateur Kay attended Ward Melville High School in East Setauket, New York. He was drafted by the New York Mets in the 29th round of the 2013 Major League Baseball Draft, but did not sign. He attended the University of Connecticut to play college baseball. As a freshman at Connecticut in 2014, Kay appeared in 18 games and made eight starts. He went 5–4 with a 3.49 earned run average (ERA) and 56 strikeouts. 2015 East Carolina Pirates Baseball Team
The 2015 East Carolina Pirates baseball team represents East Carolina University during the 2015 NCAA Division I baseball season. The Pirates play their home games at Clark–LeClair Stadium as a member of the American Athletic Conference. They are led by head coach Cliff Godwin, in his first season at East Carolina. Previous season In 2014, the Pirates finished the season 7th in Conference USA with a record of 33–26, 16–14 in conference play.
