Arturo Ambrosio (1870–1960) was an Italian film producer who was a pioneering and influential figure in the early years of Italian cinema. Biography Ambrosio was a photographer who owned a shop in Turin. In 1904, after returning from a visit to Paris with a new film camera he began making short films of a documentary nature. In 1906 he founded Ambrosio Films and began making more ambitious fiction films. In 1908 Ambrosio produced and directed ''The Last Days of Pompeii'', a major hit which helped trigger a fashion for Italian historical epics, generally set in the Classical era. Over the next decade Ambrosio oversaw a number of popular films and was able to export them to lucrative foreign markets such as Britain and America. Guglielmo Ebreo da Pesaro (c. 1420 – c. 1484) was a Jewish Italian dancer and dancing master at some of the most influential courts in Renaissance Italy, including Naples, Urbino, Milan, and Ferrara. His byname '' Ebreo'' means simply ‘ Hebrew.’ Not always used when referring to him, ''da Pesaro'' indicates that he was from the east-central town of Pesaro. Between October 1463 and May 1465, Guglielmo probably converted from Judaism to Roman Catholicism and took the name Giovanni Ambrosio. He studied with Domenico da Piacenza (sometimes known as Domenico da Ferrara) in the 1440s, and is mentioned in Domenico's ''Liber ballorum'' (1460). Luigi Ambrosio
Luigi Ambrosio (born 27 January 1963) is a professor at Scuola Normale Superiore in Pisa, Italy. His main fields of research are the calculus of variations and geometric measure theory. Biography Ambrosio entered the Scuola Normale Superiore di Pisa in 1981. He obtained his degree under the guidance of Ennio de Giorgi in 1985 at University of Pisa, and the Diploma at Scuola Normale. He obtained his PhD in 1988. He is currently professor at the Scuola Normale, having taught previously at the University of Rome "Tor Vergata", the University of Pisa, and the University of Pavia. Ambrosio also taught and conducted research at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the ETH in Zurich, and the Max Planck Institute for Mathematics in the Sciences in Leipzig.
