The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to Germany ( uk, Надзвичайний і Повноважний посол України в Німеччині) is the ambassador of Ukraine to Germany. The current ambassador is Oleksiy Makeev. He assumed the position in October 2022. The first Ukrainian ambassador to Germany assumed his post in 1992, the same year a Ukrainian embassy opened in Berlin. Oleksii Sergiiovich Makeiev (born in Kyiv) is a Ukrainian diplomat who has been serving as List of ambassadors of Ukraine to Germany, Ambassador of Ukraine to Germany under President Volodymyr Zelenskyy since . Early life and education Oleksii Makeiev was born on in Kyiv. He graduated from the Institute of International Relations at Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv in 1997. Career Makeiev began his diplomatic career at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Ukraine), Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1996. Prior to 2014, he worked at Ukraine's diplomatic missions in Germany and Switzerland. He was made political director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine in 2014. The Embassy of Germany in Kyiv is Germany's diplomatic mission to Ukraine. The Embassy of Ukraine in Berlin is the diplomatic mission of Ukraine in Germany. Since 20 December 2014, Andriy Melnyk is the Ukrainian Ambassador to Germany. Andriy Yaroslavovych Melnyk (born 7 September 1975) is a Ukrainian diplomat currently serving as Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs. Previously he served from January 12, 2015 until October 2022 as the Ukrainian Ambassador to Germany. He is a Doctor of Law. Biography Andriy Melnyk was born in 1975 in Lviv, Ukrainian SSR, Soviet Union. In 1997, he graduated from Ivan Franko Lviv State University, qualified as a specialist in international relations, translator of German.
