Amazonino Mendes
Amazonino Armando Mendes (born November 16, 1939) is a Brazilian politician. He served as the Governor of the Brazilian state of Amazonas for three non-consecutive tenures. He was born in Eirunepé, Amazonas. He first served as governor from 1987 until April 2, 1990, when he resigned from office to run for the Federal Senate. He was elected governor in 1995, serving from 1995 until 2003. In 2017, Mendes was elected Governor of Amazonas succeeding David Almeida, who assumed as interim following the Superior Electoral Court impeachment of former Governor José Melo and former Vice Governor Henrique Oliveira. As a result, the president of the Legislative Assembly of Amazonas State assumed until the elections were held on the 6th and 27 August. The Brazilian Labour Party ( pt, Partido Trabalhista Brasileiro, PTB) is a political party in Brazil founded in 1981 by Ivete Vargas, niece of President Getúlio Vargas. It claims the legacy of the historical PTB, although many historians reject this because the early version of PTB was a center-left party with wide support in the working class. It is the seventh largest political party in Brazil with more than a million affiliated as of 2022. José Melo De Oliveira
José Melo de Oliveira (born September 26, 1946) is a Brazilian politician and was governor of state of Amazonas, Brazil. Melo graduated with a degree in economics from the Federal University of Amazonas in 1967. He began public life while still at the university, where he served in various roles, including as a typist, director of the Department of Education and Sports, Subrector for Academic Affairs, and as a member of the University Council. Later, he worked as a teacher of history at Estelita Tapajós High School in Manaus. He also taught at the former Federal Technical School of Amazonas, and was a professor at the Federal University of Amazonas between 1970 and 1984. He won the election for Governor of the state of Amazonas in 2014 as a member of the Republican Party of the Social Order. The Superior Electoral Court ( pt-BR, Tribunal Superior Eleitoral, TSE) is the highest body of the Brazilian Electoral Justice, which also comprises one Regional Electoral Court ( pt-BR, Tribunal Regional Eleitoral, TRE) in each of the 26 states and the Federal District of the country, as determined by the Article 118 of the Constitution of Brazil.
