Amazing (film)
''Amazing'' is a 2013 sports action drama film directed by Sherwood Hu. The film is a co production between China and the United States, and stars Huang Xiaoming, Amber Kuo, Kim Ah-joong and NBA players Carmelo Anthony, Scottie Pippen and Dwight Howard. It premiered at the Shanghai International Film Festival in June 2013 and released in China on September 30, 2013. Plot Set in modern-day Shanghai, various unexpected events unfold when China's top programmer (Huang Xiao Ming) designs the world's first thought-controlled virtual reality basketball game, and finds himself at risk with the law. The film is also about the passion of sports, love and inspiration. Sherwood Hu
Sherwood Xuehua Hu (; born 1967), is a Chinese American theatre director and film director. Early life and education Hu was born in Shanghai in 1967, to Hu Weimin (; 1932-1989), a theatre director, and Gu Menghua (). His sister Hu Xuelian () is a producer. Career Born and raised in Shanghai in a creative and artistic family, Hu relocated to the US where he earned a master's degree in theater and film production from the State University of New York at Buffalo, and a Ph.D. in directing from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. He also studied under Joseph Papp at New York's Public Theater, and began his professional career directing theatre, including productions of Rashomon, Constant Prince, and The Chairman's Wife. Ying Huang (; born 1968 in Shanghai) is a Chinese operatic soprano. She first came to international attention when she sang the title role in Frédéric Mitterrand's 1995 film ''Madame Butterfly'' and went on to an international career both in opera and on the concert stage. She was born and raised in Shanghai, and at 18 began five years of study at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music with Zhou Xiaoyan. Wang Zhizhi (, pronounced ; born 8 July 1977) is a Chinese former professional basketball player who is currently the head coach of the Bayi Rockets, the team with which he spent his domestic career in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA).
