''Amar Desh'' ( bn, আমার দেশ) is a defunct daily newspaper in Bangladesh, published from Dhaka in the Bengali language since 2004. ''Amar Desh'' provides news about Bangladesh from local and regional perspectives and covers international news. ''Amar Desh'' is considered a popular opposition newspaper in Bangladesh and takes an editorial stance that favours the Bangladesh Nationalist Party. The newspaper has been closed down by the government of Bangladesh. The Awami League government has twice closed down the newspaper, and both times its censorship occurred in conjunction with the arrests of editor Mahmudur Rahman. On 1 June 2010, the editor was arrested and the government shut the newspaper down for 10 days. Aminul Islam (trade Unionist)
Aminul Islam (1973 – 4 April 2012) was a Bangladeshi trade unionist who was murdered in 2012 and gained international attention. Biographical details Islam was married and had two sons and one daughter. Work Islam, a former garment worker, was president of the Ashulia and Savar chapters of the Bangladesh Garment and Industrial Workers Federation and a leader of the Bangladesh Center for Workers' Solidarity, which has advocated for improved working conditions and higher wages. In 2010, the organization led protests to push for a larger increase in the minimum wage for garment workers in the Bangladesh textile industry. Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen ("Assembly of Mujahideen--Bangladesh", abbreviated: JMB; bn, জামাত-উল-মুজাহিদীন বাংলাদেশ) is a terrorist organisation operating in Bangladesh. It is listed as a terror group by Bangladesh, India, Malaysia and the United Kingdom. Suranjit Sengupta (5 May 1945 – 5 February 2017) was a Bangladesh Awami League politician. He resigned in 2012 as the first Railway Minister of Bangladesh. He was the member of parliament from Sunamganj-2 constituency in the Jatiya Sangsad and a member of the party's advisory council. He was the chairman of the parliamentary standing committee on the Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs Ministry.
