Amanita Xanthocephala
''Amanita xanthocephala'', known as the vermilion grisette, pretty grisette or vermilion amanita is a colourful mushroom of the genus ''Amanita''. It is found in south Australia in association with ''Eucalyptus'' and may be toxic to humans. Taxonomy At one stage this fungus was known as ''A. pulchella'', in a small genus that all grisettes (ringless ''Amanita'' species) were placed in. This genus later sunk back into ''Amanita''. Unlike most ringless ''Amanita'', which are part of ''Amanita'' section ''Vaginatae'' (e.g. ''Amanita vaginata, A. vaginata''), ''A. xanthcephala'' belongs to ''Amanita'' section ''Amanita'' (e.g. ''Amanita muscaria, A. muscaria''). It derives its specific epithet ''xanthocephala'' from the Ancient Greek, Greek ''xanthos''/ξανθοѕ "yellow" and ''kephale''/κεφαλη "head". Picnic Point, a suburb of local government area City of Canterbury-Bankstown, is 23 kilometres south-west of the Sydney central business district, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. It is a part of South-western Sydney region . Picnic Point is a residential suburb on the northern bank of the Georges River. Located within Picnic Point is Yeramba Lagoon which is the largest tract of National Park within the Canterbury – Bankstown Council, it is home to numerous species of native fauna and flora. History Picnic Point was the name given to the geographical feature on the Georges River. The suburb was originally part of East Hills, which stretched south from Bankstown to the river and east to The River Road. Picnic Point was gazetted as a suburb in 1975, with new boundaries gazetted in 1994.
