Amanda Makela
Amanda Makela (born December 20, 1993) is a women's ice hockey player. Having played at the NCAA level with the Mercyhurst Lakers women's ice hockey program, she was a member of the Buffalo Beauts during the 2015-16 NWHL season, the first in league history. Playing career With the Thunder Bay Queens (2008–11), Makela captured the 2010 Esso Cup. In the championship game against Saskatchewan's Notre Dame Hounds, she made 30 saves in a 4-3 win. One of her teammates on Thunder Bay was future 2016 CWHL Draft pick Kaitlyn Tougas. Hockey Canada On December 21, 2010, Makela was one of 14 players from Ontario named to Canada's U18 national women's team. Making her debut with the U18 national team in a preliminary match against Switzerland on January 1, 2011, she would make 24 saves (including 11 in the first period) in a 9-1 victory. Hillary Pattenden
Hillary Pattenden (born December 27, 1990) is a Canadian former ice hockey goaltender who played with the Mercyhurst Lakers women's ice hockey program from 2008 to 2012. She held the NCAA Division I goaltender all-time most career wins title for 415 days, beginning on December 14, 2011, when she broke Jessie Vetter’s record of 91 wins until her own 100-win record was broken by Minnesota‘s Noora Räty on February 1, 2013 (Räty‘s 114 career win record was later broken by BC‘s Kaitie Burton on January 27, 2018). She was the first goaltender ever selected with the first overall pick in the CWHL, selected by the Calgary Inferno in the 2012 CWHL Draft, though she never played in the league and did not opt to pursue playing hockey in her post-collegiate career. The Mercyhurst Lakers women's ice hockey program represented Mercyhurst University during the 2013–14 NCAA Division I women's ice hockey season. Their conference mark was 15-3-2, earning them the College Hockey America regular season title. In the postseason, the Lakers were defeated 2-1 in overtime by the RIT Tigers during the CHA championship tournament. The Lakers would qualify for the NCAA Tournament. In the quarterfinals, the Lakers defeated Cornell by a 3–2 mark in Ithaca, New York. The Mercyhurst Lakers women's hockey team represented Mercyhurst College in the 2012–13 NCAA Division I women's ice hockey season. The Lakers were coached by Michael Sisti and advanced to the NCAA Frozen Four, before being defeated by Boston University 4-1 in the National Semifinal. The Mercyhurst Lakers women's hockey team will represent Mercyhurst College in the 2011–12 NCAA Division I women's ice hockey season. The Lakers were coached by Michael Sisti and won the regular season College Hockey America championship. During the season, the Lakers only carried 17 skaters, but the club won its 12th consecutive regular season title.
