Amal Abou Zeid
Amal Abou Zeid (born 12 June 1953) is a former Member of the Lebanese Parliament. He was a member of the National Commission for Economy, Trade, Industry and Planning in the Lebanese Parliament. He is currently the advisor to Lebanese President Gen. Michel Aoun for the Lebanese-Russian Affairs (since 2016). Biography Born in Mlikh, Abou Zeid completed his education at Good Shepherd School, then moved to the United Kingdom to pursue his academic studies where he obtained his master's degree from The London Business School. Amal Abou Zeid established his first investment company in London under the name of “ADICO Investment Corporation” in 1980. Abou Zeid expanded the business of “ADICO Investment Corporation” in 2000, through establishing the company in Moscow – Russia and worked on enhancing the Business & Economical relation between the Russian and Lebanese Diaspora. 2022 Lebanese General Election
The 2022 Lebanese general election is the upcoming general election in Lebanon, scheduled for 15 May 2022. Background 2019–21 protests Large-scale anti-government demonstrations ignited in the country from 17 October. Initially triggered in response to a rise in gas and tobacco prices as well as a new tax on messaging applications, the demonstrations quickly turned into a revolution against the stagnation of the economy, unemployment, Lebanon's sectarian and hereditary political system, corruption and the government's inability to provide essential services such as water, electricity and sanitation, Saad Hariri ended up resigning on 29 October 2019. The Lebanese Parliament ( ar, مجلس النواب, translit=Majlis an-Nuwwab; french: Chambre des députés) is the national parliament of the Republic of Lebanon. There are 128 members elected to a four-year term in multi-member constituencies, apportioned among Lebanon's diverse Christian and Muslim denominations but with half of the seats reserved for Christians and half reserved to Muslims per Constitutional Article 24. Gebran Gerge Bassil ( ar, جبران جرجي باسيل; born 21 June 1970) is a Lebanese politician who is the leader of the Free Patriotic Movement since 2015. A Maronite Christian, he is the son-in-law of President Michel Aoun, and has been his most senior advisor since 2005. Born in Batroun, Bassil joined the FPM, becoming a prominent activist in it. He ran in the general election of 2005 and 2009, and was appointed as the Minister of Telecommunications in the First Cabinet of Saad Hariri. In 2011, Bassil and all ministers of the opposition announced their resignation, leading to the collapse of the government.
