Amaanaaiy
''Amaanaaiy'' is a 1998 Maldivian romantic drama film directed by Mahdi Ahmed. Produced by Mohamed Niyaz under Eternal Pictures, the film stars Ali Khalid, Fathimath Rameeza, Jamsheedha Ahmed and Iujaz Hafiz in pivotal roles. The film was released on 4 November 1998. The film revolves around a man who is welcomed with his illegitimate son after the child's mother's death and the events that proceed when his wife is not fond of the child. The film is based on Shekhar Kapur's Indian drama film '' Masoom'' (1983) which is a remake of the 1982 Malayalam movie ''Olangal'', which are both adaptations of ''Man, Woman and Child'', 1980 novel by Erich Segal. However, the film majorly focuses on the character of Ashiya — played by Jamsheedha Ahmed — whose role has been derived as of Supriya Pathak's in ''Mausoom'' who only features for around five minutes. Mahdi Ahmed
Mahdi Ahmed (born 17 October 1971) is a Maldivian screenwriter, producer and film director. He made his career debut with critically acclaimed film '' Amaanaaiy'' (1998), which fetched him several awards including a Gaumee Film Award for Best Director and Best Screenplay. From 1999 to 2002, he mainly worked as a director and screen writer in the Inter Office Teledrama Competition, which resulted him receiving six awards for the five films submitted. Afterwards, he was mainly recognized for his collaboration with Abdul Faththaah for the romantic disaster film, '' Hureemey Inthizaarugaa'' (2005) and fifty episodes' television series ''Hinithun Velaashey Kalaa'' (2006). This was followed by Ahmed Nimal-directed romantic film ''Vaaloabi Engeynama'' (2006) for which he was bestowed with another Gaumee Film Award for Best Screenplay. Jamsheedha Ahmed
Jamsheedha Ahmed (2 December 1978) is a Maldivian actress. Career 1996–99: Early releases and ''Amaanaaiy'' Ahmed made her screen debut in 1996 with the video single titled "Nudhaashe Dhookohfaa Loabivaa" performed by Abdul Sameeu. Recalling her memories of the song, Ahmed said it was a "fun experience" accepted as a favor to her friend. With her "timid" behavior and lack of trainings, Ahmed "struggled" while performing the song. However, upon release, the song was accepted among the audience where she received several offers to feature in songs and film. A year later, she made her film debut alongside Mariyam Nisha and Hussain Sobah as the caring sister of an underprivileged talented vocalist in Amjad Ibrahim's '' Loabeege Aniyaa'' (1997). Sithi Fulhu was a Maldivian actress mostly known for her comical roles in the films. Career In 1992, Sithi Fulhu collaborated with Yoosuf Rafeeu for his drama film, '' Loabi Veveynee Furaana Dheegen'' followed by another collaboration with Yoosuf Rafeeu for his tragedy drama film '' Vaudhu'' (1993) which narrates the separation of a happy couple due to the societal differences. Fazeela Amir
Fazeela Amir (16 December 1969) is a Maldivian singer. Early life Fazeela Amir was born and raised in the "Amir family" where several artists including Ahmed Amir and Ibrahim Amir were brought up and "ruled" the music industry. She made her career debut with the album ''Hiyy Fahi'' where she lent her voice for eleven songs in the album. This resulted in her receiving several offers from music directors and producers to sing for their films and albums before making her breakthrough with her "high-pitched" rendition of the songs in the 1994 released film '' Dheriyaa''. Her duets with Ali Rameez are well noted in the industry and maximum duets with Rameez are recorded by Amir. In 1998, the Government of Maldives honoured her with the National Award of Recognition. Fathimath Rauf
Fathimath Rauf (7 October 1959) is a Maldivian singer. Early life and career Fathimath Rauf was born and raised in the "Masodi family" where several local artists emerged as prominent singers. At the age of thirteen, as insisted by her father, Rauf performed a song on the stage which caught the attention of the audience. Music directors realized her potential and roped in to sing for their projects which enabled her to "rise to fame" during her career beginning. While working at Dhivehi Raajjeyge Adu, she joined the local band "Olympians" and became a prominent face in their stage shows. With the inauguration of National Centre for the Arts, she joined the centre and served for the government till her retirement in August 2017. Ravee Farooq
Ravee Farooq is a Maldivian actor, director, editor and choreographer. Career Farooq made his film debut with Abdul Faththaah-directed romantic disaster film, '' Hureemey Inthizaarugaa'' (2005) cast along with Mariyam Zuhura, Waleedha Waleed, Ibrahim Jihad and Neena Saleem. The film, heavily relied on the effect of the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake on the Maldives, received favorable reviews from critics though it failed to perform financially. Farooq played the disrespectful husband who chose wealth above his family. His performance won a Miadhu Crystal Award for the Best Male Newcomer.
