Always And Forever (Eternal Album)
''Always & Forever'' is the debut studio album by British girl group Eternal. It was released through EMI on 29 November 1993 before Louise Nurding left to embark on a solo career prior to the release of the follow up album, '' Power of a Woman'' (1995). The album became a commercial success, spending 63 weeks in the top 40 of the UK Albums Chart, selling over one million copies in the UK alone and yielding six hit singles. As of 1997, the album had sold over four million copies worldwide. In June 2019, ''Always & Forever'' was ranked at number 15 on the Official Charts Company's ''Top 40 biggest girl band studio albums of the last 25 years''. Eternal (group)
Eternal were a British R&B girl group formed in 1992, with the line-up consisting of Easther Bennett and her older sister Vernie Bennett, with Kéllé Bryan and her friend and classmate Louise Redknapp, who were also recruited into the group by the label. The group became an international success, selling around 10 million records worldwide. Louise Redknapp left the group before the release of their second album to focus on her solo career with the same label. Kéllé Bryan left the group under undisclosed circumstances in 1998. Sisters Easther Bennett and Vernie Bennett were the only members left when they disbanded in 2000. Eternal made a brief comeback in 2013, with Kéllé Bryan returning to the group, only for the group to disband once again in 2014. The BRIT Awards (often simply called the BRITs) are the British Phonographic Industry's annual popular music awards. British Phonographic Industry (BPI) is the British recorded music industry's Trade association. "Just a Step from Heaven" is a song by British girl group Eternal, released as the third single from their debut album, '' Always & Forever'' (1993). Released on 18 April 1994 by EMI and 1st Avenue, the single entered at number 12 on the UK Singles Chart on 24 April and climbed to its peak of number eight three weeks later. The single spent 11 weeks on the UK Singles Chart. It also reached the top 30 in Ireland and New Zealand and experienced minimal success in North America. The music video for "Just a Step from Heaven" was directed by Matthew Rolston. Critical reception Jon O'Brien from AllMusic complimented the song as an example of "perfect R&B-infused pop". The Official Charts (legal name: The Official UK Charts Company Limited) is a British inter-professional organization that compiles various "official" record charts in the United Kingdom, Ireland and France. In the United Kingdom, its charts include ones for singles, albums and films, with the data compiled from a mixture of downloads, purchases (of physical media) and streaming. The OCC produces its charts by gathering and combining sales data from retailers through market researchers Kantar, and claims to cover 99% of the singles market and 95% of the album market, and aims to collect data from any retailer who sells more than 100 chart items per week. UK Albums Chart
The Official Albums Chart is a list of albums ranked by physical and digital sales and (from March 2015) audio streaming in the United Kingdom. It was published for the first time on 22 July 1956 and is compiled every week by the Official Charts Company (OCC) on Fridays (previously Sundays). It is broadcast on BBC Radio 1 (top 5) and found on the OCC website as a Top 100 or on UKChartsPlus as a Top 200, with positions continuing until all sales have been tracked in data only available to industry insiders. However, even though number 100 was classed as a hit album (as in the case of The Guinness Book of British Hit Albums) in the 1980s until January 1989, since the compilations were removed this definition was changed to Top 75 with follow-up books such as The Virgin Book of British Hit Albums book only including this data. Louise Redknapp
Louise Elizabeth Redknapp (née Nurding, born 4 November 1974) is an English singer, songwriter and media personality. She was a member of Eternal, an R&B girl group which debuted in 1993 with their quadruple-platinum studio album '' Always & Forever''. In 1995, she departed from the group for a solo career, in which she released the albums ''Naked'' (1996), '' Woman in Me'' (1997) and ''Elbow Beach'' (2000). Aside from music, Louise has presented several television shows and was a judge on the UK version of ''So You Think You Can Dance''. She was married to the English former footballer Jamie Redknapp. In 2016, Louise reached the final in the fourteenth series of BBC One's '' Strictly Come Dancing''. In January 2020 following a 17-year hiatus from recording Redknapp released '' Heavy Love'' to critical acclaim.
