''Always Never Home'' is an extended play by American singer Syd. It was released on September 7, 2017, via Columbia Records for streaming and digital download. The project succeeds Syd's debut album ''Fin'' (2017), released seven months prior. Consisting of three tracks, the EP includes production from Ricci Riera, Full Crate, Anonxmous, Gwenn Bunn and Kintaro. Background The EP's release date was revealed by Syd on Twitter. The ''Always Never Home'' Tour was also announced for October to December 2017. Singles The first single off the EP, titled "Bad Dream / No Looking Back", was released as an appreciation to the solar eclipse of August 21, 2017. It was produced by Gwen Bunn and Ricci Riera. Syd said on Twitter "Play this while you watch the eclipse." The single was advertised as a "part of the upcoming feature soundtrack Always Never Home." Sydney Loren Bennett (born April 23, 1992), known professionally as Syd (formerly Syd tha Kyd), is an American musician and singer from Los Angeles, California. She initially gained recognition as a member of the alternative hip hop collective Odd Future, and went on to found her own band The Internet, in 2011. Bennett released her 2017 debut solo album ''Fin'', followed by the EP ''Always Never Home''. She released her second album, ''Broken Hearts Club'', in 2022. Roger Troutman
Roger Troutman (November 29, 1951 – April 25, 1999), also known as Roger, was an American singer, songwriter, record producer, multi-instrumentalist and the founder of the band Zapp who helped spearhead the funk movement and heavily influenced West Coast hip hop due to the scene's heavy sampling of his music over the years. Troutman was well known for his use of the talk box, a device that is connected to an instrument (frequently a keyboard, but most commonly a guitar) to create different vocal effects. Roger used a custom-made talkbox—the Electro Harmonix "Golden Throat"—through a Moog Minimoog and later in his career a Yamaha DX100 FM synthesizer. Shirley Murdock (born May 22, 1957) is an American R&B singer-songwriter, who is best known for her 1986 R&B hit single "As We Lay" and for her vocals on Zapp and Roger's hit single " Computer Love". Donald Earle DeGrate Jr. (born September 29, 1969), better known by his stage name DeVanté Swing, is an American record producer, singer, rapper and songwriter. He is the older brother of fellow Jodeci member Dalvin DeGrate. Career In his early career, Swing served as a mix engineer, while simultaneously producing for other acts. The solar eclipse of August 21, 2017, dubbed the "Great American Eclipse" by the media, was a total solar eclipse visible within a band that spanned the contiguous United States from the Pacific to the Atlantic coasts. It was also visible as a partial solar eclipse from as far north as Nunavut in northern Canada to as far south as northern South America. In northwestern Europe and Africa, it was partially visible in the late evening. In northeastern Asia, it was partially visible at sunrise.
