Alvin Pearman
Francis Alvin Pearman, II (born August 10, 1982) is an American professor and former American football running back. He was drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the fourth round of the 2005 NFL Draft. During his career he played for the Jacksonville Jaguars, Seattle Seahawks, and Tennessee Titans. He played football for the Virginia Cavaliers. He received his B.S. from the University of Virginia in 2005. At the conclusion of his NFL career, Pearman earned a M.Ed. and Ph.D. from Vanderbilt University. He is currently an assistant professor of education in the Graduate School of Education at Stanford University. He was previously a professor of Urban Education at the University of Pittsburgh. A running back (RB) is a member of the offensive backfield in gridiron football. The primary roles of a running back are to receive American football plays#Offensive terminology, handoffs from the quarterback to Rush (American football)#Offense, rush the ball, to line up as a receiver to catch the ball, and Blocking (American football), block. There are usually one or two running backs on the field for a given play, depending on the offensive formation. The Baltimore Ravens are a professional American football team based in Baltimore, Maryland. The injured reserve list ( IR list) is a designation used in North American professional sports leagues for athletes who suffer injuries and become unable to play. The exact name of the list varies by league; it is known as "injured reserve" in the National Football League (NFL) and National Hockey League (NHL), the "injured list" in the Canadian Football League (CFL), and the injured list (historically known as the "disabled list") in Major League Baseball (MLB). The National Basketball Association (NBA) does not have a direct analog to an injured reserve list, instead using a more general-purpose "inactive list" that does not require a player to be injured. Injured reserve lists are used because the rules of these leagues allow for only a certain numbers of players on each team's roster.
