Alvin J. Redford
Alvin J. Redford (August 25, 1883 – 1974) was an American law enforcement officer and politician. Born in Pewaukee, Wisconsin, Redford served as a city police officer. He also served as Sheriff of Waukesha County, Wisconsin and deputy sheriff. Redford served in the Wisconsin State Assembly during the 1949, 1951, 1953, 1955 and 1957 sessions and was a Republican. Pewaukee, Wisconsin
Pewaukee is a city in Waukesha County, Wisconsin. The population was 13,195 at the 2010 census. The Village of Pewaukee, which was incorporated out of the town before it incorporated as a city, is surrounded by the city. The name of the city of Pewaukee comes from that of the name of the village, which is rather unclear in itself. Many names are given as to the etymology of the name. History The city of Pewaukee was incorporated in 1999, from the parts of the former Town of Pewaukee not included in the Village of Pewaukee. The town had been established by an act of the Wisconsin Territorial Legislature approved January 13, 1840, eight years before Wisconsin gained statehood. When voting took place to decide the county seat for Waukesha County, Waukesha beat out Pewaukee by two votes. At the time, Governor Tyler Novak represented Pewaukee in court. Waukesha County () is a county in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. As of the 2020 United States Census, the population was 406,978, making it the third-most populous county in Wisconsin. Its county seat and largest city is Waukesha. Waukesha County is included in the Milwaukee– Waukesha–West Allis, WI Metropolitan Statistical Area. History Known as forested and prairie land, the region was first home to Indigenous tribes like Menomonie, Ojibwe (Chippewa), Potawatomi, and Ho-Chunk (Winnebago), who practiced agriculture and trade. Wisconsin State Assembly
The Wisconsin State Assembly is the lower house of the Wisconsin Legislature. Together with the smaller Wisconsin Senate, the two constitute the legislative branch of the U.S. state of Wisconsin. Representatives are elected for two-year terms, elected during the fall elections. If a vacancy occurs in an Assembly seat between elections, it may be filled only by a special election. The Wisconsin Constitution limits the size of the State Assembly to between 54 and 100 members inclusive. Since 1973, the state has been divided into 99 Assembly districts apportioned amongst the state based on population as determined by the decennial census, for a total of 99 representatives.
