Alupotawela
Alupotawela is a village in Sri Lanka. It is a hamlet of Kaduwela, in Matale District of the Central Province. History As of 1896, the inhabitants were "Tellas and Stone-cutters", and were masons to the King during the Kandyan period. A canal was cut was from Yatawara to Alupotawela during the reign of King Vijayapala of Matale. In Sri Lanka, provinces ( si, පළාත, translit=Paḷāta; ta, மாகாணம், translit=Mākāṇam) are the first level administrative division. They were first established by the British rulers of Ceylon in 1833. Over the next century most of the administrative functions were transferred to the districts, the second level administrative division. Kandyan Period
The Kandyan period covers the history of Sri Lanka from 1597–1815. After the fall of the Kingdom of Kotte, the Kandyan Kingdom was the last Independent monarchy of Sri Lanka.
